Cable news free....starting NOW
I will not watch cable news again. I will not use the CNN website. After all the whoring that has gone on, I quit.

Who's with me? Join my revolution! (even though I copied it from other people!)

I am hoping that the liberal network that was going to be started by Gore is a reality

6. I'll join
I haven't been able to stomach watching any news today. Maybe I can maintain it if I take baby steps. Will also remove CNN.com and MSNBC.com from my bookmarks. Good idea!

7. Been with you for months ...

I turned them off after the Condi hearings.

I slipped briefly last night because, quite frankly, their website had the numbers presented in a better format, i.e. county breakdowns. But, that was it. I even made sure to purge my browser history and any lurking cookies today.

9. The Candy Crowley Says This...Tweety Says That Threads Need To Go....
wait...I guess, if I see that I just need to not open them. I quit watching Cable news after the Dem Convention, but I guess the threads are to much like a train wreck and I have to look. Seriously, I do wish that Dems would just quit going on the shows at all. They are mere dog and pony shows.

17. Funny
How great minds think alike. I made this pledge this morning to my Yahoo Peace Group. From now on its LinkTV, Amy Goodman, Lectures on UCTV, BBC America, the local low power fm station KPFZ, indymedia.org, AirAmerica.
Actually there's quite a bit there when you look at it.

20. Speaking of Tweety
I hear he's "pissed off" about how Bush won the election, after lying to the American people about the war, yadda yadda yadda. What do you want to bet he's doing this to retain us lefty viewers?

This man is totally driven by profits. He's beyond repulsive.

but I just refuse to watch MSNBC. I miss seeing Ron Reagan as well (that seems like and odd thing for me to say :) I guess I'm holding out for Air America television. Maybe Keith and Ron will be the stars.

16. I have to quit
Watching them is revolting. Until I get new speaker wires and can crank up the stereo, it feels really strange sitting here with the hum of the computer being the only sound in the room.

18. I emailed
CNN and MSNBC that I was boycotting their stations some time early this afternoon. I think for a while there, after the 2002 election, I did my best not to look at anything related to CNN. Then this year hit, and I got sucked in.

No more.

BBC news is good, News Hour with Jim Lehrer (What time does it come on?)
Daily show, Yahoo News...

What are some good online alternative news sources? (Not just analysis, but news...)

24. I too have not watched all day.
I was home sick--(flu as well as election misery) I usually have one of the news channels on for company. Today, I spent the day with the food channel. Much better for my soul but it's gonna kill the waist line.

26. cable? never had it
my kids thought they were the most deprived kids in the world, but i just object to the idea of paying for television. I'm sorry i've never seen the daily show, but i have watched the sopranos, sex and the city, the shield all checked out for free from public library where I work. I do spend a lot of time online reading about what is said on thsoe right wing cable shows, but luckily i've never seen them.

27. I was addicted to Cable news
but I don't have any urge to watch any of it. The idea is repulsive. I couldn't watch Kerry speaking.

I am interested in any ideas about how to punish the media for their ill treatment of us and pur candidate and for their mediocre contribution to the world. We need Greg Palast, not Mr Tweety......Sigh.............

37. Rather than cancel cable...
.. divide your monthly bill by all the non-premium channels, take the equivalent of 24/7 news outlets, add it up and omit it from your payment. Insert a note that you will continue the service but will not pay for * whore media. I know that depending on how many channels you have this may not be much, but it is enough to send a message.

If they call you or bill you for a few month's pittance, simply cancel the service. I did this with cable in '00 and felt pretty good about it.
