I am considering not performing or creating anything for conservatives.
I call on all musicians, artists and all other creative people to consider boycotting performace of their craft for Republicans.
Specifically music. THis is very hard for me because I love to play music. But I can no longer sit back and keep fighting against the GOP thinking that I can make a difference.
What I am going to do is deny them the right to my music. I am not famous. I don't make a living writing and playing songs for people but I do make the people I play for happy and they enjoy my music.
Well I am considering asking people at my shows if they voted for George W. Bush to leave. TO say that they are not welcome and that I reserve the right to perform music for who I want when I want.
Frankly I don't think many would leave as my audience is already mostly non-conservatives.
It may be a small gesture but I am considering it.
I too am a musician a working one at that.I am a solo acoustic guitarist/singer/songwriter and I will play for my soul and the souls of those who need it.We must they're not all bad people just misinformed
be no audience since they are the only ones who will be able to afford tickets. Our Symphony hardly gets by as it is. Our 60th season is planned for next year but there is little funding. I see it closing after that anyway. (this is just my own fear from knowing how it is going now since Bush* took office). People have to have something to ease their lives and music is for everyone and perhaps most importantly for those of us who make it. Could you not do it? I have to.
The idea has also been proposed in the past for all G/L/B/T folk to stop working in, attending, and giving to churches that oppress them. Hasn't happened.
6. Create and Promote shows that conservatives won't attend anyway...
They have no taste...
For the classical and jazz types out their...stop doing thier gigs...
Make your own REVOLT AGAINST THE CONSERVATIVE MAINSTREAM!
Let them hear Shania Twaine and the jackass schmuck who drives ford trucks...
I for one will state right on stage if you voted for Bush you are welcome to leave as I am not playing this music for you....
As for CD's....my CD's will probably never sell at best buy anyway and I sure as hell am not going to let TIcket Master rule the prices on my shows....having said that...
It looks like I will be setting up my own shows...as not many clubs other than the most undergound ones will take to me asking Bushites and neo-cons to leave...
But I feel there is an audience that is fed up with "mixing" it up with the gun nut, homo-phobes...
so F THEM! They fucked up this country now and I'm going to fuck with them...
