A few notes from my workplace: F9/11 and voting
On Friday, we're having a movie lunchtime. All those who decide to dress in costume are welcome, but everybody is allowed to watch the movie. Movie was not chosen by the (suspected DINO) CEO, but by committee. Michael Moore's F9/11. Although several people are quite aware of my political stance, I am pointing out that I had nothing to do with the selection. One "Clinton is evil" Bushbot that I mentioned it to told me that "it's not totally accurate". I didn't get into the discussion with her, but I think it's progress that she didn't use the phrase "It's full of lies.". My supervisor passed in F9/11, has issues with Moore. I am choosing not to attend, I don't need the aggravation. Not in protest or anything, I decided not to come in costume.

Discussion at the general meeting ended with questions about the "time off for voting". (This is where my suspicions about the CEO's DINO status returned). Since I've been here, we had been given 2 hours off to vote on election day (but that was in Presidential elections). CEO has been here since June 2001.

CEO is not giving any time off to vote, saying that the idea of giving half-days for voting was not good in this time of a tight economy and increased public scrutiny of taxpayer-funded agencies.

I mentioned that, traditionally, it had been 2 hours only in Presidential elections, that there were concerns about the increased turnout (in the Cleveland Ohio area), concerns about validity and precincts of registered voters (again, especially in the Cleveland Ohio area), and a couple of other issues.

Rebuttal came from another source, saying that the bylaws said 4 hours (half-day), but "because of the extended hours at the polling places, there is enough time".

Rebutting the rebuttal was done by others, and the suspected DINO CEO said he will consider the issue and let us know by Monday.
