Bustamante was pretty hot on Face The Nation
You knew he was doing well because they tried to interrupt him a few times (eg, when he wouldn't bite on the attempt to try to get him to talk about Arnold in terms of private life rather than in terms of politics). You knew he was doing really well when, despite the interruptions, he got right back on message.

I think the host called him Governor Bustamante when they closed.

1. I hope he wins!
Sounds like he's a great man, able and willing for the job.

All Arnold can do is sing and dance. Historically, actors make the WORST politicians. Jesse "the duncel" Ventura was bad enough, and Reagan started the gigantic "me-me-me" mess which will kill our country.

2. Pretty cool
I didn't see it, but I think he'll do a fine job. Better than Arnold, at least.

12. Bustmante isn't really running _against_ Davis...
hence the "No on recall, yes on Bustamante" slogan, which has even been incorporated into the URL of his campaign website (http://www.noonrecallyesonbustamante.com/ ). Bustamante's position is basically that the recall is a bad idea and should be defeated, but that if it succeeds, Davis should at least be replaced by an experienced Democrat (himself).

Arianna, on the other hand, says that she will vote "yes" on the recall and that Californians should not be "stuck with the miserable status quo." (See http://www.votearianna.com/article.php?id=15 ). So she's going along with the (right-wing-created) recall to a much greater degree than Bustamante, and I can see how that might make some people angry. (I'm not too happy about it myself...)

15. yup , that's right
Bustamante is running on a no recall ticket and to thwart the repug attempt to void the 2002 election. Arianna is running to take advantage of the republican coup, an opportunistic approach typical of the Green/Third party party in the last three years.

Is she urging her supporters to vote no on the recall?

16. Actually, Bustamante was berated and accused of being an opportunist
just a couple of weeks ago in this very same DU by an entire cast of posters that were totally opposed to having another Democrat run in the recall election.

Yours truly was among the few endorsers of Bustamante for realistic reasons: Davis was going down, and we needed an alternative to the GOP candidates. Our DU critics sided with the uncompromising position taken by Senator Feinstein, vote "No" on recall and skip the second question altogether. I am glad to see that common sense has prevailed and that the majority has now come around to Bustamante's position of "No" on recall and "Yes" on Bustamante.

17. I think B. was going to run all along. They just needed to play
him as both with and against Davis.

If a lot of people are going to show up to vote against Davis, a Democrat would never have won by saying that he was with Davis.

But now that it looks like a lot of people will show up to vote for democracy, B. can be for Davis now.

The Dems have simply been playing this smart. (No comment on whether all DU'ers are smart.)

6. He did a good job as did Davis on This Week
sticking to the issues, not Ahnold's sleazy treatment
of women.

Where are the women's groups on Ahnold's sexual
harassment of women?

8. Well Gloria Allred is getting her fur up about this.
I don't know if anyone else is. I know the men candidates think that Arnold shouldn't be judged on his private life but his issues. I guess they have never been an unwilling victim of a female predator fondling their balls. This isn't about tomcatting in his youth. It's about sexual assault that should be investigated to see if there is any truth in it.

9. I have heard Gloria...
Maybe if men thought Ahnold was groping little boys
they might have a different POV.

When is it ok to sexually harass...grope strange
women? I don't like Republican's sheeple attitude
but I did give them some credit for treating women
respectfully.

I guess that's just another myth.

10. Repubbas think women are inferior to them and
should be protected by their big brawny muscles and superior intellect. This isn't the kind of "respect" I want. Also, that respect doesn't extend to women who they view as inferior to their women like maids and waitresses.

11. or female reporters...
and actually his wife. You'd think she'd be decently
embarrassed by his exploits. Pundits say it's because
he's so much like Kennedy men that she isn't bothered,
but I don't recalling Kennedy men giving interviews about
jumping on a naked woman gang bang style....

13. No the Kennedys kept their philandering pretty secret.
It's only when incidents happened like Chappaquidick or Palm Beach, where the police were involved that these indiscretions leaked out.
