Freepers hold PRAYERATHON until election day (link)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1256970/posts

They have a time table and grid all set up for praying that God will make W win this election. Check out the link!

Sadly, I don't see much compassion for the poor, elderly, sick, and the "least" of these in society, like the gay/lesbians, minorities, overweight, or handicapped (forgive me for missing dozens more), let alone His beautiful Earth. W is trying to destroy it also, while padding the pockets of the energy companies and logging operations.

I do see a "church" in America however that sure does remind me a lot of what I read in the bible in Jesus' time and in Revelation.

My prayer, as a Christian resolves around the fact that our leaders look after those who need the most help. We aren't doing that, and arguably haven't done it much throughout our existence except the New Deal, and the Civil Rights and Suffrage movements.

God bless everyone, I respect your opinions even if you don't agree with mine. :) :) :)

1. We've had prayer/thoughts/vibrations threads before each debate --
and, considering the outcome, I hope we have an election thread ourselves! Given that early voting is underway, I think some DUer who's good at that sort of thing might go ahead and start a thread that could be kept kicked --

6. thank you for the info mom
well I guess it opened my eyes, what they're doing.

I will pray regardless, and would have anyhow, I guess every DU should have their own type of prayer, meditation or silent moment to hope for the best, and do the best in their life with what we're handed. I don't think many will sit by, however, if they see vast injustice like what happened in 2000, in Miami where the Bush groups were pounding down the election offices door to rant and rave. I hope that if things go bad, every Christian on here prays for non-violence. This election is by far the most raucous thing I've ever seen, it's just electrifying and tumultuous combined.

TAKE CARE!

(maybe the main moderator will ask for everyone to spend time thinking about the election in their own way on Monday evening)

2. Let them pray...
... to their false idol all they want. It won't make a difference. They're praying for falsehood, lies and more distress and misery.

3. And I respect yours
as my belief is that all paths lead to God.

It is interesting that they are praying for a W victory. I also pray-that God, in Mercy and Compassion, take pity on our country and set it on the right path, the path of those who follow God's ways, not those who bring down God's wrath or go astray. Different words, but in the same spirit as your prayer.

God bless you and yours.

4. Blessed are the peacemakers
"You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." -Mt. 5:43-48

Who delivered that one, Freepers? Oh... probably no one too important :eyes:

5. Good.............
maybe that will keep them busy so they won't be doing more destructive things.
I think their prayers are misdirected. They're not praying for the things needed to make this world a better place. They're praying for things that make THEIR world a better place, for them and them only. Pretty selfish, but what else would you expect from a Freep?

8. God will hear their prayers, and hear them for the self-serving,
self-rightous and selfish utterings that they are. God will not be pleased.

16. Agreed...
"OUR" country the last 4 years:

Psalms 12:8
The wicked walk on every side when the vilest men are exalted.

Next Tuesday, WE, "All true Americans", take it back:

James 1:25
But he whoso looketh into the PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY and continue therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of this work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

18. Is a Prayer-O-Thon necessary if Shrub is God's Chosen Messiah?
If an omnipotent, omniscient deity has chosen the Chimperor to President of the United States, as guide and savior, is said God going to be swayed by a "prayer-o-thon?"

20. I think their prayers may be drowned out
by the approximately 5.75 billion other prayers rising to the heavens from EVERY OTHER HUMAN (and possibly other creatures) ON EARTH.
