How the Right-Wing works
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 09:29 PM by ck4829
At the top we have Coors, it has been heavily involved with Neo-Conservatism, and it may have had a hand in it's birth.

At the bottom we have religious/Neo-Conservative political forces putting pressure on the GOP.

Simply it is like this:

Coors
|
|-Scaife
|
'Think' Tanks
|
Politico-Religious forces such as the Christian Coalition, Liberty Alliance, Focus on the Family, etc. ('Pressure' Groups)

The long version:

Coors - The Coors family (Coors beer) provided the startup money for groups such as the FCF, has continued to heavily fund the FCF and Heritage Foundation over the years, and has worked closely with Weyrich in the FCF, Heritage Foundation, and other radical rightwing groups.

Until recently, Jeffrey Coors served as chairman for the Free Congress Foundation. FCF is now chaired by Rep. Ralph Hall, D-TX (who voted for the articles of impeachment).

The Coors family first got involved in national politics by sending to Washington Jack Wilson, an aide, to scout around for issues and groups that might be suitable for Coors' financial support. An idea as to the mindset of Wilson can be obtained from a statement he made in 1973, in a memo to Coors, Wilson :"Martin Luther King was an avowed communist revolutionary." (Bellant, The Coors Connection)

Besides the Free Congress Foundation and the Heritage Foundation, both Weyrich-founded and led/oversighted with the assistance of Coors money and family members direction, the Coors family has supported a number of groups which work to continue the racist divisions in the U.S., as well as outright racist groups, such as the Patriotic American Youth Group. This group's decidedly racist publications have included on the masthead active participants in groups such as the Citizen's Councils and the KKK.

Scaife - Scaife is more of a funder than a thinker. He simply goes with the flow. He did not lead the charge against Clinton, but rather funded it and the groups out to get him. He also supplicates two of the most powerful 'think' tanks there are.

'Think' Tanks - Groups such as the Heritage Foundation and Free Congress that are funded by the Coors Dynasty and Scaife and have some connection to the Fascist-loving Paul Weyrich. The Heritage Foundation and Free Congress Foundation are very powerful groups. If something is Right-Wing, there is usally some connection between that and one of Paul Weyrich's groups. Yet, you never hear it in the 'Liberal' Media.

'Pressure' Groups - These groups put pressure on the GOP, bending them to their will. Of course, these groups themselves are at the mercy of Weyrich, Scaife, and the Coors Dynasty

For example, at the Christian Coalition Road to Victory II conference, September 11th and 12th, 1992, Weyrich announced plans for the FCF to work closely with the Christian Coalition.

Here are some other groups supported by Weyrich:

NATIONAL CHRISTIAN ACTION COALITION (NCAC), established by Robert Billings, a board member of FCF. Lobbies to maintain tax exempt status for segregated schools. Billings was a co-founder and first executive director of Moral Majority and holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from Bob Jones University.

MORAL MAJORITY, Jerry Falwell. Formed at the suggestion of Paul Weyrich as a visibly Christian organization that would apply pressure to the GOP. Robert Billings was the executive director.

WORD OF GOD (WOG), sheparding discipleship movement. A millenialist cult.

ALLIES FOR RENEWAL, a group controlled by WOG. FCF staffers Connie Connaught Marshner and William Marshner are active in this group and through it participate in WOG conferences. William Marshner teaches at Christiandom College.

CHRISTIAN VOICE, a key Christian rightist group working to elect Republican conservatives. Colonel Doner, the director of this group, is sheparded by Peacocke. Christian Voice has connections with Rev. Moon and the Unification Church.

NATIONAL PRO-FAMILY COALITION, Connie Marshner, Director. Board members include: Roy Jones (Moral Majority); Mark Siljander, R-Mich and member of COR steering committee; Dennis Peacocke, founder of Anatole Fellowship.

AMERICAN COALITION FOR LIFE, Dennis Peacocke, Connie Marshner, Roy Jones, Siljander, Gary North and Herb Titus (head of Pat Robertson's Regent University). Trains their workers at Morton Blackwell's Leadership Institute.

ANATOLE FELLOWSHIP, founded by Dennis Peacocke to gain influence for the Religious Right in the GOP. Wm. Marshner is on the executive committee. C. Marshner and Pete Waldron co-chair an issues committee to influence federal legislation. Waldron is also a member of CNP and is on the steering committee of COR.

COALITION ON REVIVAL (COR), sheparding group run by Dennis Peacocke. Heavily influenced by the reactionary Christian Reconstructionist movement (R. J. Rushdooney and Gary North). The Christian Reconstructionists and COR seek an end to democracy and the imposition of a theocratic Christian republic ruling all dimensions of life. Connie Marshner is on the board of directors.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATORS (NACE), founded by Robert Simonds to implement COR's plan in the field of education, one of seventeen spheres of social life COR delineates.

CITIZENS FOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION (CEE), founded by Robert Simonds as the activist arm of NACE. Aims are to "return faith to our public schools," and to "change the atheist dominated ideology of secular humanism in our schools' texts, curriculum, and teachers' unions." They want to remove from textbooks "all teachings of secular humanism" and to teach Creation Science with evolution as "a two-model curriculum on origin."

INTERCESSORS FOR AMERICA (IFA), John D. Beckett, Pres. A rigidly homophobic right-wing Christian fundamentalist group. Their newsletters express concerns about Freemasonry.

THE SIENA GROUP. Formed by FCF in 1988 to network Catholic organizations, institutions and publications which share a generally conservative viewpoint. Has connections to Legatus (a Catholic businessmen's group) through founder, Tom Monaghan (chairman of Domino's Pizza). Both Legatus and Monaghan have connections to WOG, the sheparding group.

CENTER FOR THE DEFENSE OF FREE ENTERPRISE, Ron Arnold. Wrote At the Eye of the Storm: James Watt and the Environmentalists in defense of Watt.

WORLD ANTI-COMMUNIST LEAGUE (WACL). Robert Pearson chaired the American branch of WALC, the Council on American Affairs (CAA). Pearson also was on the editorial staff of the monthly Heritage Foundation publication, Policy Review. Kathleen Rothschild has been on the board of WACL and USCWF. WACL has many fascist and neo-Nazi connections.

U. S. COUNCIL FOR WORLD FREEDOM (USCWF), Major General John Singlaub. Formed shortly after Reagan's inauguration to build support for the Contras. It quickly became the U.S. branch of the WACL.

CENTER FOR FOREIGN POLICY (CFP), established 1986 by Wm. Kling, former American Security Council director. Reports on right-wing forces worldwide. In concert with Paul Weyrich's International Policy Forum (IPF), conducts political training for right-wing leaders worldwide. It has been especially active in Chile with Augusto Pinochet's military dictatorship.

INTERNATIONAL POLICY FORUM (IPF), Morton Blackwell and Paul Weyrich. Conducts political training for right-wing leaders around the world in New Right political techniques.

FREEDOM FIGHTER. Monthly report of The Freedom League and The Freedom Research Foundation. Has used Weyrich's offices through Charles Moser, an officer of FCF.

FREEDOM RESEARCH FOUNDATION, Dr. Jack Wheeler. Co-publishes The Freedom Fighter. Wheeler has connections with the World Anti-Communist League (WACL).

AMERICAN FREEDOM COALITION (AFC), Robert Grant, chairman. Political arm of the Unification Church. Has raised funds for Oliver North.

And that is the Right-Wing explained.

3. You have an Anti-CNP link ...
but CNP isn't on your list.

Just last October, Bush appeared behind closed doors at a Council for National Policy meeting in San Antonio, Texas. Efforts to obtain a tape or transcript of his remarks at the secretive meeting have been blocked by the Bush campaign. The Council for National Policy (CNP) is a right-wing umbrella group founded in 1981 through the inspiration of the Rev. Tim LaHaye, a graduate of Bob Jones University. (Bob Jones III, the chancellor of Bob Jones University, who considers Roman Catholicism and Mormonism cults, is also a member of this elite group.)

Plus, I didn't see PNAC. And that's a biggie too.

Otherwise, great list. Personally, I think Shrub is PNAC's tool, but CNP's Messiah. As ugly as PNAC is, CNP is worse, by far, and CNP is the more serious threat to American democracy.

imho

5. I know. I'm saving it for later.

I'm showing off all of the things I am writing. When I am finished, there will be a vast collection of material everyone can be free to use against the Right.

I haven't forgotten about the CNP or PNAC, and in fact I know about Bush's meeting with them. John Ashcroft also used to be a member and Domald Rumsfeld has also spoken to them. I also believe PNAC and the CNP are linked together, some evidence that leads me to this conclusiom is that Gary Bauer is both a member of PNAC and the CNP.

7. Cool.
I look forward to seeing the compilation.

And I didn't know about the Gary Bauer connection. Interesting.

4. Gays should UNdo Mary Cheney's work. Boycott Coors Beer again.
Who really think Coors has become "kinder, gentler" towards gays with the company they keep? The old gay boycott of Coors didn't really change a thing. Mary Cheney, a professional lesbian, was hired to give a false illusion that Coors had changed. Coors only wants to separate gays from their money. Never trust a Cheney, even a lesbian one!

10. Good post, but...
there is not single "top." It is an alliance of interests, sometimes called corporatists or cheap labor conservatives, sometimes simply fascists. They began well back in US history, and there are many players.

11. It is more like funding and some directing than anything else, not a...
true hierarchy.

Coors and Scaife fund Weyrich who then goes out and helps mobilize the politico-religious groups.

The reason why Coors is at the 'top' is because while there is no single 'top' just like you said. Coors has had a hand in the Neo-Conservative/Christian movement.

13. Quite right.
Follow the money. John Welch played the same role as Coors a few decades ago: http://www.wordiq.com/definition/John_Birch_Society .Other examples run further back. Thyey were pushed out of the Republican Party then, but the "Moral Majority" of the Nixon era and the "Christian Right" (such lying labels!) of the Scaife-Reed period carried on the same goals and the same tactics and now they have siezed state power.
