2008 - Who do they have?
Since we can now be reasonably assured of a Kerry victory, I was thinking ahead a bit.

In 2008, who do the Republicans have that would even stand a chance against Kerry?

1. The race is a long way off, but --
-- Senator Hagel of Nebraska and Governor Pataki of NY seem interested in the job. Maybe Giuliani, maybe McCain (depending on his health).

15. I heard that too, but didn't he
make a statement denying it. I don't have time to google it right now, hopefully someone else can.

14. I don't think Giuliani or Pataki have the conservative backing
Both are fairly moderate (I know I'm going to hit hard for that view, let me be clear that I HATE GIULIANI, but I think he is a moderate republican. I can't hate really Pataki, partly because I know him pretty well, I used to buy fruit and vegetables from him and his dad and my house is on old Pataki farm land (built long before George was born, but the Pataki farm once covered a large part of Northeastern Peekskill and Cortlandt Manor, New York.) He is a terrible governor and Spitzer will oust him in the next election, but he is a hell of a nice guy.) Anyway, the only way for a republican to win in NY is to be somewhat moderate, and I don't think the christian right is ready for a "pro-choice republican" president.

Besides, rumor is that Giuliani is gunning for Hillary's Senate seat. He turned down the offer to go for Chuck Schumer's seat (which would have been a fun campaign).

Hagel is certainly up there, but don't discount Frist just yet. If the repukes can pull off another 2000 and steal this election, I think Frist will be the Bush heir to the throne. Assuming Bush doesn't declare that God wants him to be dictator for life and thrown out the little bit of constitutional protection we have left.

2. I know arnold of kalleeforneea
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 05:23 AM by helnwhls
has been brought up too often for my comfort level. I relaize it would take some serious legal jerry-rigging, but the republicans are good at that.

11. Doesn't stand a chance...
Ahhhnold doesn't have a chance in he** to be the next rep candidate.

He is already being referred to as a RINO and will never win the support of the nutjob die- hard reps. He receives quite a bashing from them because of the joke he made about living celibately due to the pro- Bu$h speech he made and his pro- Democratic wife Maria Shriver being mad at him.

4. It'll all depend on shaking the neo's out of their hair
and bringing the party back to the center. I'm not sure they can do that in 4 years.

7. which side of John McCain should run for president?
Which side of his mouth should John McCain speak out of if he runs in 08? Shall we see the McCain that so often condemned the Shrub's fascist policies or the McCain who chairs Shrub's Arizona campaign? I am all done with McCain!

13. Hitler's brain in a jar
Seriously, I have no clue... except that I don't think even the Republicans would be stupid enough to back another Bush if the current one proves a one-term failure like the last one.

The Kennedys had to be murdered to wreck their political dynasty; the Bushes have driven themselves into a telephone pole (and were most likely "under the influence" at the time).

16. In a Third World Country like Imperial Amerika, NOTHING is assured
Untrustworthy voting systems, vacation-home double and triple voting by Busheviks, the Bushevik Sturmtruppen themselves pushed to new lows of despiccability (but it's OK you know, because they are fighting the same Pure Evil the Nazis fought in World War II, so it's Ok to do bad thing in such a 'noble cuase' for them).

I beoieve nothing in this benighted Third-World Backwater of Aerika until I see it.

maybe Free America, the Old Republic can be restored.

But that day is still far off, even if Kerry wins.

Do not relax a MINUTE. A Kerry win is NOT "reasonably assured". It will only be so if Kerry receives a 10% margin of victory in Real Votes.

Because between Ballot Stuff, registration shredding, and all the rest of Bushevik Manual and Electronic Disenfranchisement, a 10% Kerry Real Vote Victory likely means he will "squeak it out" by 0.1% in Votes Counted AFTER Bushevik Fraud.
