Old news, I suppose, but I just saw this Bush interview with O'Reilly and
it's pretty much pissed me off.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,133712,00.html

O'REILLY: The South Vietnamese didn't fight for their freedom, which is why they don't have it today.

BUSH: Yes.

O'REILLY: Do you think the Iraqis are going to fight for their freedom?

BUSH: Absolutely.

http://www.vietnamwall.org/pdf/casualty.pdf

Republic of Vietnam (anti-communist S. Vietnamese):
KIA: 223,758
WIA: 1,169,763

I've never dared to assert that neither O'Reilly nor Bush have opened a history book, but it just strikes me as rather sickening. 1,300,000 military killed and wounded and that wasn't fighting for 'freedom?'

Fucking bastards. Or are my numbers simply fuzzy math?

2. 13,000 to 15,000 civilian deaths in Iraq
But those numbers don't seem to matter much to the Bush administration either. Sad.

I can't stand it when he evokes 9/11 and links Iraq to the "war on terror" -- 2-3K civilian deaths on 9/11, 13-15K civilian deaths because of Bush's War on Iraq.

What gives?!

3. The suggestion that the Vietnam War was lost because the South
Vietnamese people "wouldn't fight for their freedom" is old, delusional horseshit. There were no North/South Vietnamese until outsiders carved up their country, put artificial labels on a map, and imposed a war on them. What O'Really and many others are unable to admit is that the South Vietnamese WERE fighting for their freedom and we were the enemy. Not a whole lot of difference between that and Iraq, the Iraqis are fighting for their own freedom and unfortunately, once again, we are the enemy. If shrub had balanced the budget and paid down the debt, created 10M jobs and provided universal health care, he would still deserve to be fired because of his arrogant and butt headed choice to go to war in Iraq.

4. Not delusional
Not with GeeDub, anyway. Utter ignorance.

O'REILLY: The South Vietnamese lost because they lacked the mighty power of spinach in their diet.

BUSH: Yes.
