Jon Stewart is like Jesus
But he is dealing with the media establishment instead of the religous establishment.

When I saw him speak the truth to Tucker and Begala about the sham of their show, and the media as a whole, I was reminded of Jesus dealing with religous leaders in his time (and how he would deal with them today). Just like the religous leaders, Paul and Tucker had no idea what he was talking about, and had no desire to understand him or take him seriously because they are so blinded by their insular world views and protected positions. Jon was speaking the truth, but they had no ability to hear it or process it. It was an amazingly insightful look into the media and their own blindness about their roles and what they really do.

Keep speaking the truth, Jon!

2. don't worry, I'm not starting a religion
I'm trying to point out the inability of those in power to see the truth when it threatens their positions of wealth and/or power.

9. He did have an air of someone looking beyond the mundane world
I don't know quite what to call that look, and I'm not even sure I've ever seen it anywhere but in movies. But there's a special gaze someone has when their eye is fixed on a different level of existence.

Even since Stewart's kid was born, he's seemed more and more enraged as the fuckers in power. I think that anger built up until he realized he had only two possible ways to release it -- through an act of destruction or through an act of (potential) self-sacrifice.

What I'm most reminded of is The Ballad of John and Yoko:

Christ you know it ain't easy,
You know how hard it can be.
The way things are going
They're going to crucify me.

Saving up your money for a rainy day,
Giving all your clothes to charity.
Last night the wife said,
"Oh boy, when you're dead
You don't take nothing with you
But your soul - think!"

11. They knew EXACTLY what he was talking about!!!!
You could tell from their very uncomfortable reactions.

They know they are whores.

They know they are undermining the political process and system.

They KNOW that Stewart is right!

That's why they reacted the way they did...
