Help conduct the nation's first citizen's precinct/county vote audit
Votewatch, a non-profit, non-partisan election monitoring organization, is recruiting citizen volunteers to act as “Closing Voters” to provide data for the first-ever monitoring of raw vote counts produced by electronic voting machines at precincts across the country. Data collected by Votewatch volunteers will then be compared with unofficial centralized vote counts produced at the county level on election night.

In order for the comparison of precinct-generated totals and centrally-tabulated totals to be valid, it's necessary to collect precinct totals from ALL of the precincts in a county. Thus, Votewatch is also looking for individuals who can mobilize volunteers to cover every precinct in a county.

To learn more about this campaign, please click here: http://cv.votewatch.us/

From the above page, there is a link to http://cv.votewatch.us/how-it-works.asp which gives you a snapshot view of how volunteers will conduct this process.

If you wish to join us, please register with Votewatch at http://votewatch.us/createMember

People, you've been waiting for this election for a long time. You've been bitching about the 2000 steal. You wonder WTF Rove has planned for the October Surprise. You wonder if democracy is indeed doomed. Well, damnit, I'm offering you a way to participate in a tangible manner!

When election day gets here, all we need from you is an hour or so - and that includes your time to go vote. We just need you to be at your precinct at the end of the day.

Let's make this simple:
I need folks to cover selected counties in a few states. I don't really want to say which counties, but we are really interested in FL, IA, NM, OH and PA. If you are in one of those states, please sign up at www.votewatch.us and let's see if we can create some teams there.

Frankly, either we start seeing some real interest in this campaign, or I'm gong to give up and figure you are unwilling to act beyond reading DU and posting your complaints about how bad things are.

2. I wish people would be ALL OVER THIS ISSUE!!!
I won't even know until next week WHERE (which State) I'll be on Nov. 2 due to my work, or I would definitely sign up today! This election will go down in the history books, and it will make the fiasco of 2000 look like child's play.

Cummon, DUers!! Sign up NOW!!!

5. I'm doing my county
Asked the elections head today if the totals would be posted in public, ASAP.

"Yep, right here in this office"

I'll be there to make a list. Then send it to ya'll. Easy.
