Proof: The Very Wealthy are Mentally Ill
Oh, okay, just this one very wealthy woman. I have no idea why "Frontgate" sent me their catalog. I certainly can't afford their products nor do I want them. Example: Monogrammed mailbox: $275. Brass towel rack: $299 (not even heated).

They profile a customer who is a owner of a 6200 sf house in Tulsa, OK. Now tell me, what kind of person lists her "favorite pastime" as "sewing" in this high-brow catalog where she is quoted "Every now and then I have the desire to put something together, but then I never wear it. I just like the challenge of making something of nothing."

Boo freaking hoo - she can't even find a hobby she can finish, yet she lists it as her favorite pastime!!! That is crazy!

Oh, it's my FAVORITE thing to do, to sew clothing I never wear! I am a miserable failure at my favorite pastime.

Reminds me of Stupidhead.

Of course, you can guess what the husband's pastimes are, can't you?

(Other than counting money.)

1. Hmm....
"Of course, you can guess what the husband's pastimes are, can't you?"

Whipping peons? Kicking elderly bag people and taking away their bags of scavenged broken toasters and radios? Stealing candy from poor children in burnt-out urban areas? Running over fluffy bunnies in his Ford Expedition?

At least he's a closer!

4. Just Guessing -
Would the husband be a right wing fundie preacher?

There are a lot of those in Tulsa - and they all seem to think that it is their God given right to prosper and have all the best toys. Not sure what that has to do with the Gospel. Seems more like greed run amok to me.....

And of course a good fundie preacher must have a sufficiently docile and obedient wife. I think I would be crazy if I were married to a right wing fundie preacher dude.

6. Don't know his occupation...
probably "Developer" or "Investment Consultant"

But his pastimes are....so sweet and so nice and so Amurikan for those types. Not to say that there aren't people who enjoy those pastimes who are not assholes who raid the National Treasury!

14. Well, then.
Your guess was a darn good one IMO!!

Actually the man's pastimes listed in print are: hunting, fishing and golfing.

How quaint! How American! How Normal!

Is there a mold somewhere for these people? They all look alike and sound alike and have the exact same hobbies or oh excuse me pastimes, and seem to vote the same god damned way.

15. I'm sure that like his wife, he lists past-times that he doesn't pursue.
Now, that Scotch-thing that he didn't list - THAT's his real past-time. And even if he pretends to enjoy hunting, fishing, & golfing - it's really just to have an excuse for another Scotch.

8. Imagine living in a 6200 sq ft house - what an unpleasant life
I'm serious. What a miserable, lonely, isolated life.

10. Hah!
I'd like to march around after the maid and make sure she's gotten every freaking bit of dust removed, I tell you, removed from the 18th century sideboard!

What a life huh?

9. Reminds me of one of my Dad's favorite sayings:
"If you want to know what God thinks of money, look at the kind of people he gave it to."
