1. You could do the same with the skyline of NYC.

2. But I wanted a symbol of freedom and the reality of bush's
policies. WTC has always been to me, a symbol of capitalism. It just didn't have the same emotional charge as the Statue of Liberty.

3. For most of the outside world, America stands for capitalism and greed...
not necessarily freedom. Our view of freedom isn't necessarily shared by the rest of the world. No one in the Middle East wants to give their mother, sister, or daughter the freedom to walk down the street in a mini skirt.

So I think freedom should be discussed in relative terms - not in absolutes. This is one of bush's problems - he has no concept of what goes on in other countries - so when he talks about freedom he's thinking about having a Starbuck's on every corner.

The loss of the two towers is one of the realities of bush's policies. He chose to ignore daily intelligence and take a vacation rather than acting. And when his turn to act came along - he sat reading a book to children while the northeast burned.

4. Stopping 9-11 would just be treating the symptom
That's what we always do. The drug war is treating the symptom. Banning abortion is treating the symptom, our huge prison system is treating a symptom.

bush and his ilk confuse democracy and capitalism.
