Anyone see the full-page anti-Bush* ad in Sunday NY Times?
Page 31 of the National (front) section (at least here in the NY area, where I am this week) is devoted to an anti-Bush* diatribe by one Dr. (?) Matthias Rath. It's headlined "George Bush -- Do Not Start World War III".

Here's where things get weird. Dr. (?) Rath is apparently convinced that Bush* is nothing but a puppet of the pharmaceutical industry. (And all this time I've been thinking that he's nothing but a puppet of the oil industry...) The ad is a mixture of tinfoil-hat-type :tinfoilhat: anti-pharmaceutical stuff with -- a lot of our best DU talking points, from the "October surprise" to the 8/6/2001 briefing (Rath got the date wrong :-) ) to what's lurking inside the Patriot Act.

I suspect a Rovian attempt to neutralize the above talking points by associating them with someone who is obviously, shall we say, somewhere definitely outside the mainstream. I mean, where would a crank like this get the buck$$$ to take out a full-page ad in the Sunday Times? For that matter, what possessed the liberal* Times to accept the ad? Would they take a similar (if saner) ad from, say, Moveon.org?

Discuss.

1. Matthias Rath
has run huge NYT ads before. Not specifically anti-Chimp, but about world peace and such. Which, I guess, would be anti-Chimp by definition.

Just a guy with a lot of money buying his 15 minutes, that's all.

4. Pharmaceutical stocks are expected to rise..
if Bush is re-elected. Rath is correct. Bush is a puppet of the pharmaceutical industry.

5. That's great! I don't care who he is. A lot of people no doubt read
parts of the ad and became familiar with a few things. Of course, they were probably Dems before, or they wouldn't be reading the NYT. Still, it's a good thing (to steal a phrase from Martha).
