4. 52 - 48, I think.
A damned shame. Howard is a classic neo-con scoundrel.

9. Jesus-2 weeks ago Howard was a sure loser
What the hell happened? I admit I don't follow down under politics but everything I read recently claimed Howard was on the way out. Would have been nice for Kerry if he lost.....but who gives a crap.

10. "but who gives a crap"
The answer would be those of us who didn't vote for Howard on Saturday! We are the ones who give a crap!

2. Howard
On the economy (8+ years of a solid and positive economy helped Howard). Iraq had little play in the election.

6. Don't change the channel on that 'positive economy' stuff...
I have a feeling that a hard rain's a-gonna-fall for John Howard in the next 12 months. The dickhead made 14 billion worth of promises that he can't possibly keep. Especially the promise that he'd keep interest rates low - how he achieves that whilst doling out 14 billion will truly be something to behold.

12. nothing to do with the economy
unlkess it's perceptions of economies. Howard's record on the economy is record shit trade figures, people giving up on home ownership, one the highest rates of part-times/casual work, the highest interest rates in the industrialised world...

People believe the Libs are better managers of the economy but it just isn't supported by the evidence.

Unfortunately after three more years of a 100% Howard agenda now that he's got Senate control will leave the country trashed (socially AND economically) and the ALP will get the blame after they pick up the reins which frankly they deserve after an appalling campaign in which the objective seemed to be to present absolutely no difference between them and the govt.

8. you don't have to tell us American liberals
about feeling shame for our country. Imagine if our piece of shit "president" gets LEGITIMATELY ELECTED. Dear Lord, what a f***ing embarrassment.

11. My Aussie travel mates barely discussed it...
during my holiday in Italy. In fact, we discussed Bush most of the time. I wonder what they're thinking now?
