Does Dean have a place in the Kerry administration?
Do you guys think Kerry will appoint Dean to any kind of prominent position in his administration?

Also, do you guys agree that Dean did more for liberals in one failed primary race than Ralph Nader has done in his entire career?

4. I tend to agree with you..
nader is rendering himself irrelevant..and trying to take this country down at the same time.

Dean, oth..is out there helping to get Dems in office on the ground..

I'm excited to know what Dean will be doing after Kerry/Edwards take office. And Gore, too..I hope Gore is more high profile after bush and the lech are GONE!

11. RFK Jr. would probably be better
And that would be sort of a step down for Gore anyway.

13. What other post should he take?
Secretary of State? I'm hoping Big Dog gets this. What would the Senate do with that nomination?

14. Can Clinton be SoS?
He's already served two terms as President, so any job he has in the future must be completely removed from the line of succession.

17. Yes, and not true
Bill Clinton can hold any position, including PResident of the United State, he can't RUN for POTUS again. The 22nd Amendment states:

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

He can be raised to the Presidency by what we call operation of law. Now this has never happened and it would raise hell if a 2-term former POTUS was to become POTUS again by operation of law, but it is allowed under the law.

MAJOR POINT, you don't have to be eligible for POTUS to be Sec. of State, Speaker of the House, or even VPOTUS. If a person in the line of succession is not eligible for office, they are skipped for the next person. The most recent example is Kissenger, not a natural born US citizen. Currently Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao is not eligible.

5. I certainly hope so. I have to admit that Dean was my first choice
but I am a Kerry supporter now but believe there is an awful lot that Dean can contribute and we would all be the better for it. I am sure that Kerry sees that as well.

I really do respect Dean and how he has handled things since he dropped out, he has been out there doing all he can for Kerry and Edwards.

Not like that dam bitter, senile, selfish & whatever else Nader.

9. Clark apparently can't be Sec. of Defense
You have to be out of the military 10 years from what I hear. The Senate might be able to make an exception though.

Howard Dean would also be a good sec. of HHS (remember, he's a doctor), or maybe chairman of the party (to replace McAuliffe). If Dean could somehow snag that position, you could guarantee that the DLC would be put back in their useful place (finding moderates in the South), and it would not be trying to take over the party.

10. I want Dean free and clear of the Kerry administration
so he can continue to help rebuild the Democratic Party from the roots up.

Yes, Dean did more.

12. Secretary of HHS or Surgeon General
where he can implement some of his great ideas about healthcare, not to mention the home visits for mothers of newborns.

15. Health and Human Services
I think that Dean as Secretary of HHS would signal the new administration's commitment to dealing with the healthcare problems in this country. Healthcare was always one of Dean's most important issues and he had experience with making it available in Vermont.

I don't want to totally the work that Ralph Nader did in the past as a consumer advocate, although his current activities threaten that legacy. But the fact that a huge wave of grassroots activism and small-doner fundraising has brought the Democratic Party to the brink of reclaiming the White House and quite possibly the Senate leads back to Howard Dean.

16. Yes, his position is called: "Conscience of the Party."
Dean may have saved the entire world from total disaster by sticking a bomb under Kerry's butt.

22. Dean probably would
accept Kerry's offer, if there was one. Whether it is the right thing to do? Who knows.

Howard Dean saved this nation from the bfee by what he has done and what he continues to do today.

23. I think there are a lot of places for
the loyal party members, and especially for all those who ran for the presidency.

I can see Howard Dean as Secretary of the Interior.
I can see Wesley Clark in Rumsfeld's job or Condi's job.
I can see Dennis Kucinich as the secretary of Health and Human Services.
Al Sharpton taking over as Solicitor General--Ted Olson's job.
Bill Richardson as the Secretary of State.
Hillary Clinton as the new attorney general.
Carol Moseley Braun as Secretary of Labor.
Tom Harkin as Secretary of Homeland Security.
Al Gore as Secretary of the Interior or Ambassador to the United Nations.
