6. I went to Blockbuster to rent it last night
They had a big section of them and there were only like 2 left. I was going to buy it but then I figured I would probably only watch it once or something anyway.

9. F/911 is available at Target...
I forgot it was coming out yesterday and wandered past the new movies - needless to say it was in my hands before I knew it. Much better than buying it at Mal-Wart, um er, Wally-World, um er, the evil expanding retailer.

11. I rented it last night at Blockbuster!
Even got my disinterested hubby to watch most of it! He is a Bush hater, but hates politics and rarely watches anything involving it. I heard several holy shits from him in the first 1 1/2 hrs of the movie.

I must add though, that I got a bit of a rough time from the clerk at Blockbuster about renting it. He looked at the title as he was registering the rental, and he said "OH, F911. You actually gonna watch that propaganda? I actually took the time to sit down and watch it. Nobody can possibly believe all that garbage!" I first was just going to ignore him, but his BS went on a little longer than I could manage to listen. I didn't say what I really wanted to say, but finally just told him "Well, everybody does have the right to believe what they want." Are these guys paid to have an opinion on the movies they hand out? Damn PIA.

28. yes yes yes -- make sure you complain
to the store manager. Blockbuster is having SEVERE money problems, the chain is up for sale (from what I understand), and i don't believe the management is going to take this lightly, considering they need all the income they can get. This should hit em where they live.

I've been thinking about complaing, but when I googled Blockbuster to get a contact, here's what I found. They appear to be in transition, so who do you complain to?

Blockbuster split-off a done deal

11:28 AM CDT on Wednesday, October 6, 2004

By MARIA HALKIAS / The Dallas Morning News

Blockbuster Inc. received a vote of confidence from Wall Street Wednesday with news overnight that more than enough Viacom Inc. shareholders have agreed to swap shares for stock in the Dallas-based movie and video game rental chain.

Viacom said Wednesday that, based on preliminary results, its offer to exchange 5.15 shares of the nation's No. 1 movie rental chain for each share of Viacom was oversubscribed.

That means far more shares were offered than solicited making Blockbuster’s split-off a done deal.

30. I didn't quite know
Edited on Wed Oct-06-04 01:26 PM by sugarcookie
what to make of what happened to me. As he was handing me the DVDs he anounced very loundly "F/911 and Saved" as though he wanted others in the store to know what I was renting. It is a good thing I didn't rent something I really would have been embarrased about. Isn't what you rent supposed to be private?

You know I think I would complain to the manager about that. You better believe had it been the other way around you would have been fired for doing that.

edit to correct spelling

12. Rented mine today at Blockbuster..
.. they have 400+ copies, and have guaranteed it IN STOCK. I'll buy it next week.. but had to rent it before the weekend rush on it.

Interesting.. I rented it, and mentioned that I wanted to get it before the rush this weekend. And, I mentioned that it was great they were carrying it. The young girl behind the counter told me that she saw it and was 'surprised that it was EVEN released! It's SO BIASED!' and that 'it'll cause too much controversy!'. I said.. "oh, you must be republican", she looked confused and said no.. she is not "necessarily", but that it seemed unfair that it was 'so biased!'.

I assured her that yes, Michael Moore has an opinion and the film is more of an editorial than a documentary in THAT way, BUT the words of the people on the screen, and their actions are the TRUTH. That is what is important to focus on. Moore didn't put anything in their mouths.. they said it, did it, regardless of his own opionions in making the film.

It was all quite friendly. I just felt as though she was very, very naive when it came to politics, and probably doesn't vote.

20. Walmart
Walmart in Natchez, MS seemed to actively try and discourage purchase of F9/11.

No displays for it, and no price displayed - the only DVD in the whole store without a price sign under it.

Of course, I expected as much from Walmart

Walmart will stock the DVD,sure don't want to miss out on any "potential" profit but then kind of act like you don't want to sell it to appease the Freepers that frequent Walmart.

GOD WHAT HYPOCRITES!!

making copies of it last night!! Those lawless little bastards had several unlabeled disks lying around when I woke up!! I was in a panic, would Mr Ashcroft understand it wasn't me but those pesky shoe tacking pirates? So I disposed of the evidence of their shenanigans down at work and sent back the DVD so the next netflix user can get it. Those sneaky little green hooligans are always trying to get me in trouble.

Just think of the potential surge this will bring to the Kerry/Edwards ticket....has anyone talked about that....I haven't heard anything...

One woman said that there was "a big huge pile" when she came in to work, and only a half-dozen left at the end of the day. Both of these were chain stores (one regional, one national). Nobody, staff or customers, uttered a negative word when I lined up at the till.

46. Best Buy
Had a special table. Along with it was the F911 CD with songs inspired by the movie, and Bowling for Columbine. Most stores aren't going to reject selling it. $$$ are much more important than politics, and the biggest grossing documentary and a major movie is to big to pass up.

Tuesday, bought the DVD, CD, Star Wars Trilogy, and Saved. Next Tuesday, it'll be The Day After Tomorrow.

52. I showed F911 to my two 80 year old aunts.
They are good, solid real Christians. They go to church on Sunday (twice), and the preacher comes to see them quite often. They are salt of the earth, and have always been so.

They wonder what has happened to their country. They will not vote for George Walker Bush after seeing Farenheit 911, and they will tell all their friends, of which there are MANY.

That movie is POWERFUL.
