Possible role for Wes Clark in the Kerry administration:
Kerry should appoint Clark to be his point-man to solve the Iraq quagmire; "Secretary for Iraq" as it were. And it should be announced soon, to give Clark maximum exposure over the next few weeks. Who else is so able to assess the military situation on the ground, understand the history of the region, have the ability and credibilty to work with America's (erstwhile) allies? It seems like Richard Holbrooke is destined to be the Secretary of State. This is a good choice; Holbrooke is a wise, serious, experienced, respected diplomat. He and Clark, who are friends, would make a superb tag-team here.

1. Rumors of a Biden Holbrooke showdown...
...but I think Biden gets it if they can find a powerful replacement in the senate.

14. Yes...but there is a deputy sec. of state...
And from everything I've heard, seen, and read, Holbrooke and Clark are quite close. Certainly there is a great level of respect between the two, dating (at least) back to '95, the days of the Dayton Peace Accords.

Plenty of UNDERsec. of State roles as well.

Undersec. for Middle Eastern Affairs?

Though he may be more valuable in a role relating to United States-European relations/diplomacy.

3. I would like to see Wes
appointed Secretary of State. I think he has the credentials, he has the experience and the stature. I like Wes Clark he has integrity. He seems sincere and he cares about this country and the other people in this world.

I really hope John Kerry gives him a spot in his administration.

13. yeah
cause someone who has saved millions of lives thru fighting for environmental policies can't possibley have a relevant roll beyond being a scapegoat for election problems.

9. this could help beat Bush and bring in Arkansas
Clark may now be the 2nd best known military man in America (behind Powell), so it may help Kerry on Iraq, and also this may help in ARK.

11. I just want to see Wes Clark's impressive background utilized somewhere
in Kerry's cabinet. If his recent retirement from the military makes him ineligible for DoD, then I think it's a good idea to create a position for him in the Pentagon: Secretary of Iraq Assistance", "Secretary of Middle Eastern Affairs".

12. Kerry should
remain quiet. The less his says about his choices, the better. Just less feedback from the opposition to distract from the issues.

I would like to see Biden and Clark have a top role to clean up the mess that Kerry will inherit.
