hurricanes crush business owners and workers in Fl. really bad times

the rest of the country may not realize how bad things have become in Fl. because of the storms. even in the few areas of the state that the storms did not hit.

refugees are and will be leaving the state. I'm not joking.

1. Let's hope one of them is my stubborn father
who has experienced the brunt of Frances and Jeanne and the leftovers of Charley and Ivan.

2. While I do have a lot of sympathy
for them, I also think that they should be denied federal aid. The repub party governors consistently campaign on anti-DC themes all the time. The voters need to be treated like adults, and given what they voted for- less "intervention" from DC.

And yes, I'd feel the same way if this was Texas. Maybe even more so.

3. they should be given aid, if they relocate.
If we're going to enable people, let's try to enable them in such a way that maybe we won't have to enable them again the next time a hurricane hits the coast.

4. a man, toddler and dog slept in their car last nite - no gas at stations

no gas, no electricity, some places no water or boil water notices, hotels/motels full up in storm areas (reporters had to sleep in car).

businesses in non storm areas closing because of no tourists. the first is coming and workers have no rent money.

the National Guard is in Iraq and nobody is directing traffic in storm areas - cars in mile long backups. no national guard to help in any way - like they used to.

and nobody feels sorry for Floridians because Jeb is the gov.?????

Jeb's the gov. because of rigged voting.

wow, I'm shocked at you all.

5. Sorry, I'm in a bad mood
I felt the same way about Texas after the 1994 elections. We'd had horrible flooding in SE Texas that year. My area went repub for the first time in my life, and yet people were clamoring for federal monies. They apparently didn't get the disconnect.

Yes, it breaks my heart that these people are going through this. But how many of these people empathize with others? Maybe what should really happen is that *repubs* should be denied aid. If you vote against "giveaways" then you won't be given any.

I know I sound cruel, and as I said I AM in a bad mood. But people really do need to learn that there are consequences of voting the way they do- or not voting, as the case may be. Until people start to see some concrete, direct results of their votes, they'll keep living in their little bubble world where government is bad until *they* need help.

7. Take a Midoll
The people who need help should be helped. How the hell do you know who voted for whom? Who made you God?

6. Jeb's the governor because Floridians voted for the idiot
Give me a break

Florida's problems are very short term.

Try whining to an Iraqi who has no electricity and has had none for over a year and has his house bombed and his relatives killed by 'smart bombs' and whose oil is being stolen by a madman that Florida helped put in office.

Floridians want republican-no-taxes-no-government-assistance? Then perhaps it would be helpful for them to see what that actually means.

(i'm in a griping mood. I helped load a truckload of supplies to send to Pensacola. I'm sorry for their losses, but it ain't the end of the world, it is SURE isn't Iraq which Jeb fucking CREATED with his skullduggery in 2000)
