6. Bush's ENTIRE campaign for election is a simple lie: "I will protect you!"

Even if it's a COMPLETE lie (which it is), many Americans take great comfort in comforting words from "leaders" on television.

The Rove strategy is for Bush to run COMPLETELY on the platform of reassuring America that he is there for them (when any THINKING American can see that he most certainly is there for corporate profits off fear and death).

Thus we have our 50-50 split.

7. A standard "Big Rally"-device...

...whether it's a Nuremburg Rally or "Christian" Youth rally: fill the area with symbols and slogans of The Higher Purpose, so that you can't even blink without seeing them. The faithful get a kick out of being just awash in the stuff.

Association. The crowds see Bush standing in front of these strong, positive adjectives, and they associate the words with the man. Rather simplistic, but it seems to work to some degree. Simple mass psychology. Not much different than the things that get flashed on the scoreboard at soprting events.
