An idea for investigative reporter -win a Pulitzer!!
Who are the members of the "coalition?" Who are the SECRET members of the "coalition."(Remember that?)
What did each of them GET for being a member:legitimation of an illegitimate regime?
Money?
Money with strings attached?
Loans for buying American-manufactured arms?(Poland and the planes?)
NOT being invaded or threatened with invasion?
Criminals protected?
Special trade deals?
Or?

WHAT DID THE U. S. GET?
Bases in that country?
Bigger bases in that country?
U. S. access to their raw materials or resources?
Sweetheart deals for American or multi-national companies?
Prestige increased in that country?
Tame dictatorship instead of open elections?
Details of contracts with preferred companies and their profit marku-ups?
Or?

INFO ON ANY OF THESE POINTS WANTED. CAN WE DO THE SPADE-WORK TO TEMPT AN INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER?

1. Sorry, but the mainstream media have a much more important agenda
than uncovering this type of information and telling the people: they must rapturously glorify their almighty and shill for pre-emptive war.

2. Plus this sounds like a boring story
Boring Storys don't win pulitzers. I'm not being sarcastic--I am interested in the answers to those questions, but a whole story on this? I think a better and more interesting approach would be to focus on one or two nations and tell the the story there. Let some grad student write his dissertation on the whole shebang.

Plus writing this gives the impression that President Bush had a foreign policy instead of sort of going it alone.

4. "THE BEST WAR MONEY CAN BUY?" "EVIL DICTATORS GET $MILLIONS
IN BRIBES!!" (think the 'stan countries)

Doesn't HAVE to be boring, but your idea of focusing on one or two countries is good. Got one or two in mind?

5. Pull the data together and "selling a War" could be you plus
Bev or Will as the writer - with Plan9 as publisher!

But keep the movie rights!
