What if three weeks before the election Cheney has massive
heart attack. Does America vote for Bush* out of sympathy or do they go ..Hey now without Cheney, Bush* doesn't have the Gravitas that Cheney supposedly brought to the ticket in 2000. Would it help the Republicans or hurt them? Say McCain was the one tapped to replace the Big Dick? I think Kerry would still win but can you Imagine the scenerio?

1. I just hope that
the Kerry Campaign is armed with MASSIVE files of information on anyone who could conceivably be tapped to replace Cheney (McCain or anyone else). They'd have to be ready to fire an immediate, "So sorry for your loss, and here's why your replacement guy is HORRIBLE" series of releases.

4. I have given this a lot of thought
because I believe Cheney will 'retire' after the election if, God forbid, 8 won. My best guess is Pataki. Conservative enough, wants to be president someday and can? deliver NY.

5. I don't think Bush would pick Pataki or Guliani, he'd lose his base
Conservative christians would be very angry he picked someone pro choice and who may be neutral on gay marriage.

3. Would they be able to get another VP candidate on the ballot?
One who was not duly nominated? If anyone here is an expert on election law, I'd love to know the answer to that.
