Tim McGraw: "I love Bill Clinton. I think we should make him king"
Before the curtain goes up at any concert venue around the country, the headlining act must engage in some backstage banter with local DJs, the children of corporate sponsors and whomever the Teamsters want to impress. The music industry calls this compulsory session the meet and greet, and because the spontaneity is scheduled and the patronage barely disguised, it is often the grimmest 15 minutes of any touring musician's day. But Tim McGraw loves it. He has his road crew set up a tent with a tiny stage and shabby-chic furniture. He keeps everyone plied with Bud Light, the beer he hawks in TV commercials. Then he saunters in, clasps each outstretched hand, delivers a perfectly timed moment of eye contact and sits down for a quick acoustic song that doubles as his vocal warm-up. When it's over, he exits to ferocious applause, reminding everyone, "As Americans, you have a responsibility to vote, so get out there and do it!"

It's no accident that McGraw, 37, has turned his professional obligation into a campaign whistle-stop. "I love politics," he says on the way back to his dressing room. "I love Bill Clinton. I think we should make him king. I'm talking the red robe, the turkey leg — everything." Then, because such things must be floated carefully and modestly, McGraw adds, "I want to run for the Senate from Tennessee. Not now, but when I'm 50, when music dies down a little bit. I know lots of artists and actors have those delusions of grandeur, but ever since I was a kid, it's been of interest to me."

that Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers is a huge fan of Tim McGraw. And wants to be called "Gator"

Does this mean Favre will vote Dem?

9. Sure, then the rest of the poor folk in US can be done away with
Is there ever going to come a time when Dems get past their fear of * enough to realize that Clinton wasn't perfect, and in fact, hurt a segment of the population?

Ever?

Or, is it much better to just sacrifice some people on the altar of worshipping Clinton?

They're not all Bushies. On September 29th at the Trap here in Nashville check out this line-up that will be performing;

Steve Earle
Emmylou Harris
Rodney Crowell
Raul Malo of the Mavericks
Allison Moorer
Nanci Griffith
Matraca Berg
Jeff Hanna of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
....and others.

Organizers said special guests will include actor David keith, local and national political figures and members of Kerry's national campaign.

Hey, it's "Kerry-oke" night and a fundraiser for John Kerry, and it's ONLY ten dollars cover charge. Come one, come all.

27. Music Row Democrats is a great organization
doing much to bear the banner of truth and light in a very dark industry.

Some of my best friends and favorite people are involved.

I just spent a very intense week with a mix of Dems and repukes from Nashville in the music industry. Passions are running very high. Ignorance is a profound problem. Most of the people on the other side are simply trained to support repukes. They have no rational basis for their support. It is more like rooting for the hometown team than making a rational decision about what is right.

17. Well, for his sake, I hope he was being sarcastic or something
Because, if it gets out that he likes Clinton, even if a rumor gets out that he might vote Democratic, he is gonna start getting FReeper hate mail and protests like you wouldn't believe.

Maybe they will call him a traitor, like they did the Dixie Chicks.

25. He was on Larry King a few nights ago....said that he wasn't going
to announce who he was for this year for awhile....Said he doesn't do politics at shows.

So, if he loves Clinton....maybe he'll be coming out for Kerry soon...

26. I hope he and Faith Hill do Not get
DixieChicked from this engaging statement about Prez Clinton.

I saw this on bartcop and was very pleasantly surprised. They seemed like such a neat couple but you never know how people are going to vote.

And how they vote tells a lot about them.

29. Wrong. Clinton made lots of mistakes too. He also thinks imperialism is
a good idea. Most of our government thinks stealing the oil is a good idea which is why there is so much morally perplexing behavior from our government
