2. Here's the discussion thread on it
It would be good if you would add some comments about the speech..... not everyone gets C-Span.

Thanks.

4. What was needed ....
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 11:23 PM by myday38
other than to remind about the re-airing times?
You already had the originial airtime on the other thread. Neither of our posts could carry the transcripts yet for those that don't get C-Span. However if they see your post and/or this one about it being on C-Span, they can check it out on the web site for themselves.

Thanks.

5. ? Nobody asked for transcripts.
It would just be nice to add some info about what was said in the speech.

Or not.

6. I am sorry for being touchy...
I understand now, you thought it would be nice since I watched it to
go to the discussion thread and comment about it. I am sorry
I misunderstood...I thought you meant that I should added info
about the airing on my thread.

I have had a very emotional day and an even worse evening and am a
little thick in the processing department. I hope I didn't offend
you. If I did, again, I apologize.

7. Yes, comments would be welcomed.
I understand about being emotionally overdrawn. I am, also, and find some of the dissention here hard to take.

I particularly would like to know, for my own info, what he said about poverty. Can you give me any insight about that?

Hope we all feel better tomorrow!

8. Thank you for understanding....I went straight to you link
and made some comments about it. The part about poverty...he spoke about so many people in this country living well under the poverty level. And that 1/3 of all black families are under the poverty level and that 1/2 of all black males in the state of NY were unemployed. He said there is great poverty in this country from the Appalachians to the inner cities. That health care was not a priveledge for those that could afford it. It was a right. That we were one of the only industrialized nations left that have not some formal type of healthcare. Shrub dividing the country into the haves and have-nots, and that he thinks that they playing field should be leveled. Everybody would benefit if everyone was more
able to have abetter life. The poor kept getting poorer and the middle class getting squeezed out of existance, while the rich get richer. He got several standing ovations. And at the end he told the people he needed their vote and he then asked for it. It was very emotion. He touched on all the issues that pertained to my life. It was very good.

9. Thanks! That's more encouraging to me than I had hoped.
The whole primary season, both he and Edwards talked about middleclass issues, as if poverty no longer existed. I really do appreciate hearing that he broadened his focus, at least for this speech. Having said all that, he has to know that that group is going to hold his feet to the fire! That is not a group of people to be trifled with. :)

Now I'm really wishing I could get C-Span! Can you imagine...... I get C-Span 2, and even LinkTV, but....... not C-Span 1.

I really wish he had worked earlier for votes in poverty areas. He really needs them, whether he knows it or not, and they certainly not only need someone in their corner, they need the encouragement right now that someone *is* looking out for them!

Thanks for the report.... much appreciated. I know there are people who will look for that thread in the morning.

:hi:

Take care, and hope you feel better tomorrow...... hope we all do!

10. You are so right. I work at this on my own, but i am donating
some days to the Kerry campaign here. I live in the second poorest county in the state in the Appalachians. And the biggest problem with why it is so Republican here is really lack of education on the issues. When asked, the poorer usually give a one or two liner, but really don't know what their party stands for...they really don't. If you were to ask them something like.."Why does GW believe foreign labor is a benefit to the economy,"...they would probably swear he didn't say that, cuss you out and walk off. Even the more educated republicans that don't have money will vote Repub because of a religious issue or because the Democrats are too liberal on certain issues for them. I am going to go door to door and I dread it. This is Republican territory and the party is deeply en-grained by hundreds of years of misinformation. This year, in this area, is probably the most divided it has ever been. But when I go out there soon, I have hope, a can of Mace..A Kerry button and smile to go with me. ;-) Well see how it goes. Good Night :hi:

11. Thanks, myday38
for your post and for all you are doing for the cause!

I appreciated your recaps on this thread and on the original discussion thread from earlier today.

And as for that discussion thread...Kanary has really kept Kerry's appearance at the Congressional Black Caucaus convention in the spotlight today, in spite of a low level of interest on the board. We all owe you one, Kanary!
