6. I think McCain sounded kinda confused
It seemed like there were two McCains on Letterman. He really seems to be going against his own principles to whore himself to the w crowd. I didn't get the sense of his conviction behind anything McCain said about w.

7. He was a total sellout
on David Letterman 2nite.
And didn't Dave's musical guest sing a Manifest Destiny kinda tune? I switched over real quick in time to see Fogerty on Letterman doing "Deja Vu All Over Again." Instant relief....

8. McCain
also said that the job he wants is "emperor".
Then he pretends to punch Chirac.
Nice.

9. Ok, maybe Rove is giving Zell and McCain mind altering drugs to
enslave them and make them do the odd things they're doing? It is so bizarre

10. They have just lost it tonight
I'm sure President Chirac will be impressed with our conservative communication skills.

Didn't Hitler used to shake his fist at his foes too ? That's it the fascism is totally out of the bag.

11. They're all LOSING IT
Zell, Gatlin, now McCain...one by one, showing the true stripes of conservativism. Who's next? Ooooh...if it were the chimp, that would be the frosting on the cake, and he's teetered on the edge many, many times.

12. Dave didn't help. "Is the Kerry campaign spinning its wheels?"
Yes, yes it is, McCain says sagely.

Thanks Dave!

16. Letterman audience
was wildly enthusiastic for McCain and Shrub.
Maybe they gave some delagates cab fare.

Funny OT - a friend was telling me about a guy we know who's a doorman at the Hilton on Sixth Avenue. Lots of delegates staying there. The doorman's having his worst week ever.
The Repubs don't tip! Instead of giving a tip, the delegates say "God Bless You" and walk away!

15. I'd like to see him try: Chirac was an Army Officer who fought in Algeria

He's also not a small man, although he is 72 years old. Perhaps his reluctance to get involved in a big, stupid colonial war in a Muslim country is because he was wounded fighting in one in his early twenties. Sneer as this little hatchet man may, that's quite a bit more butch than raining bombs on people from a comfy and safe height. Yeah, McCain braved AAA and SAMs, but hand-to-hand infantry fighting against insurgents is a tad more manly.

McCain is an asshole. His conflation of Iraq being part and parcel with the "war on terror" at the convention this week was ugly deliberate lying of the worst sort, and his sneering at anyone who didn't see it as necessary was thuggery par excellence.

Are we over the McCain huggy-kissy delusions yet? I certainly hope so.

17. Funny..I don't see as many McCain supporters here at DU as I used to...
I guess we'll just have to wait until McCain says something nice about us for his apologists here to come back out of the woodwork.
