My local bd. of elections won't give out bulk voter registration cards
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 04:54 PM by spotbird
anymore. I went in today and they said that they weren't going to give them out anymore I'd have to call the state and have them mailed. Two weeks ago they stopped giving out precinct maps because it was "too expensive" to keep the maps in their office. They charged .50 a copy in the first place so the claim that the bd. of elections didn't have precinct maps was like every Republican lie, unbelievable.

This is a good sign in that we've made them afraid, but it is so frustrating I want to scream. I'll have to drive two hours tomorrow to pick up forms in another city to have a canvass this weekend.

I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans. I hate Republicans.

6. Yes they are.
I hadn't considered copying them myself since the official ones are on postcard type cardboard. I guess it wouldn't matter if they were on paper if I drop them off.

7. It depends upon your state...
...some allow bulk paper photocopies or computer print-outs, some do not. Some states require that registrations from voter drives be on the official forms, to help prevent voter fraud.

Check with your local election office or Secretary of State's office before proceeding with photocopies for a registration drive.

9. Exactly! "Xeroxed" copies are acceptable with orig. signatures.
And try your county website for precinct maps in .pdf format. Happy registering! :)

10. Save yourself the drive......
.......Read this from the Oklahoma State Board of Elections.

http://www.state.ok.us/~elections/voterreg.html

HOW TO REGISTER
You must fill out a voter registration application form. Voter registration applications are available at your County Election Board, post offices, tag agencies, libraries and many other public locations. You will be offered a voter registration application when you get your driver's license and when you apply for assistance at some government agencies. You also may download an application form or send a request to receive a form by U.S. Mail. :)

4. Contact the State Board of Elections
Chances are, as long as you conform to some set of specifications, you can design and print your own. There's probably an official PDF file, too, so you'd just need to print them.

8. Are the precinct maps on the Internet, by chance? So you can
print them?

Guess you'll have to request the voter reg. cards via mail. Good thing you started in time to do that. Unless you don't get them.

I understand about the expense of the maps. The registration card thing bothers me.

11. Threaten them with a law suit and tell them you'll send out press releases
naming EXACTLY which appointed officials (and the elected officials who appointed them) are trying to get in the way of voter registration.

That's just total BS.

12. AP, Your Sig is AWESOME!!!!!
Real time rapid response.

Hell yes, there is no reason why you shouldn't get all the cards you want. This office needs to be WATCHED. If they are trying to discourage the voting process, they are vile pigs and also violating laws. Don't let them get away with it.

Have a friend call pretending to be a Puke and see how many cards THEY get.
Have fun making them nervous. They are trying to make you miserable.

Make them more miserable.
