Giuliani: Abducting The WTC Tragedy
I don't know how Giuliani did what he did next. Instead of being doubled up with remorse, he went on television. He went on television morning, noon, afternoon, night, late night. He went to church and to baseball games. He prayed all over the place. The camera turned him into a hero. The further from New York he got, the more adulation from the television announcers.

He stood on a stage with his magnificent assistants. Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik was in the throes of finishing a book about his mother being a prostitute. Von Essen's record shows that while he was commissioner 343 firefighters died. The last towering figure on the stage was Richie Sheirer, who was a radio clerk in the Fire Department and then the liaison to the Hasidic community in Brooklyn. Giuliani hailed these people as heroes of the city. All kept serious faces for the cameras. The people believed in them.

Giuliani made it into his personal site. No visitors were allowed except his own. He flew four helicopters a day from midtown to the site, each time bringing Oprah or somebody like that. The famous begged for the chance to visit the scene with Giuliani. Some have great houses with which to impress people. Giuliani used a private catastrophe site known all over the world.

The more admiration and applause, the crazier he got. First, he didn't want to leave office at all. Then he wanted to stay for three months longer. And now he wants to take money of decent citizens and bring it with him to his new private business.

1. NONE of the first responders could stop.
Remember that Giuliani was there? That he ran for his life with the rest of them? That he personally knew many who died? Yet he kept us all going.

Was he crazy? Damn straight he was. He would not have been human otherwise.

In one year, cancer, divorce, and 9/11. I'm surprised the cancer didn't recur.

Tonight, Rudy was a horse's ass. As he has been so many times in the past. But what he was on 9/11 was one of us. And our leader. Don't even try to take that away from him.

2. I agree he was one of us on 9/11

And it didn't take long for him to turn it into his partisan showpiece. I personally thought he was magnificent during the tragedy, at least he was a voice on the TV giving people information. Bush on the other hand went to bed at 11:30 p.m. on 9/11...

Yet "America's mayor" has turned a national tragedy into a Republican talking point. Sorry, that's his legacy for me, no offense to you.

11. Do you think his story was real?
When he said tonight that the first thing he did was to grab (the police chief--Bernie?--sorry I heard it on the radio coming home) and say, "Thank God George Bush is our president!" Can he really have done that? I have not heard that before tonight. Has anybody else?

4. I am sorry , but I have never seen that
I don't know what he did except run around looking officious. The senators from NY were the ones who fought to get the money for the recovery.

6. He took it away himself tonight
I have always made the same argument you just made. I never will again. He USED the dead, he EXPLOITED those who JUMPED from the towers, and then he went on to tell JOKES and make FUNNIES about John Kerry. May he rot in hell. I will never defend him again. I have never been so outraged. Maybe you weren't watching.

7. So true. And I won't argue with you about here on out.
I'm very sorry he did this to himself.

8. Glad you agree
Let's run him out of town. Let him never dare to show his face on our streets again.

5. Giluanni is probably grateful
His career was almost destroyed by, shall we say, his nocturnal behaviors. Everyone knew he was a hypocryte, then 9/11 happened, and now he is making buckets of money as a 'consultant'...

Now he complains about the Dems using 9/11 for political gain? This whole convention is nothing BUT politicizing 9/11.

9. His soul was hauled away w/ the WTC rubble
and sold to Asian recyclers. He has been outsourced, and is inconsequential.
