i think Karl Rove is playing us like a violin.
This morning, all of a sudden, we hear Bush now thinks he "miscalculated" in Iraq. He even thinks Global Warming may be real.

Yesterday, Cheney comes out saying he has a different view on FMA, but mind you, Bush sets the policy.

While all this window dressing to spruce up their image is going on, we have their proxies carrying on a vicious smear attack on Kerry's war record.

So, I think at convention time a more conciliatory image will be combined with the image of a tough wartime leader who will not yield to dictators.

The economy, healthcare, the soaring deficits, the death of soldiers, the tortures, the financial scandals, the job losses will not be heard at all at the convention.

We look like we are going to get the Al Gore treatment all over again.

3. We have to hit the people hard with the message.............
that's it's not what they say, it;s what they do.

They pulled this same shit before the last Presidential election that they lost in 2000. They talk a good game, but when the rubber hits the road, they do just the opposite.

They're liars. Remember the "Clear Skies Initiative", "Healthy Forests", "Leave no Child Behind".........etc.

I agree.

I'd like to see Bush on the defensive for once.

He could be nailed on any number of things.

26. You're right DumpGump, they're double-speak is amazing.
"They're liars. Remember the "Clear Skies Initiative", "Healthy Forests", "Leave no Child Behind".........etc."

That's exactly why Bush's "Not Liquidating the Homeless Initiative" makes me really nervous.

playing the politically ignorant. The Republicans will trot out a whole string of very moderate republicans. You won't hear that the officials Republican platform includes working for a Constitutional Amendment to ban abortion or a Constitutional Amendment to define marriage/. You won't hear about the planned massive cuts to social programs if bush is elected. You won't hear the hate, the bigotry and greed that is so much apart of modern conservatism. They will do the same thing they did in 2000. They will appear at the convention to reasonable , middle of the road people o but if bush is elected they will continue his program of radical right wing extremism.

7. You would think he would be bragging about all he has done
for the country since he took office. He should, as the incumbant, be spouting off all the good things he has done and why we should vote for him on his record. LOL--all he can do is make more empty promises because all he has done is miscalculate. He is forced to try to cover up at the convention because all that he has done is shameful.

8. It's time to haul out ads that review Bush's 2000 campaign

statememts and his actions since being selected and paint him as someone who runs as a moderate nut governs as a right-wing radical and can't be trusted to do in office what he has proposed on the campaign trail.

The point needs to be driven home that his new-found enlightenments havent led to any changes in the radical policies his administration is still following.

Heck, we've been convinced that that eating blended maggots is entertainment. We've been convinced that John Grisham is a great writer. We've been convinced that Hummers are a viable vehicle.

Hey, look over there! Doesn't our President look nice and shiny and loyal and God-fearing and strong and military and RELIGIOUS?

DOESN'T HE???

14. They think they can fool voters again with portraying Bushco as moderate
RW machine will have a much harder job this time to convince voters that GWB is a moderate and that Kerry and Bush have basically the same stance on issues. Voters who know they were fooled last time have had 4 years of regret. But memories are short and we can count on the complicit media to attempt to perpetrate this same fraud again the way they did in 2000 with Gore. And we can expect that when Kerry and Edwards point out Bush's extremist and incompetent policies and actions in contrast to their own stance on the issues, they will be accused of going negative.

Kerry already began debunking the compassionate conservative label on the Daily Show where he mentioned several things Bush has done that are the opposite of being a compassionate conservative.

18. "I'm a uniter, not a divider"- Theyre spreading this lie again
Incredibly, the media has already begun spreading this manure by stating that many Americans believe shrub will be better than Kerry at uniting the country! First he plays up all the wedge issues and will not tolerate any views but his own and gets the whole country fighting against each other. Then he is going to unite us all? Just like his miscalculations and mishandling of Iraq got us in a terrible mess but he is the best one to fix it?

Surely, Americans can't be that stupid can they?

15. Flip flop
Kerry lashed into Bush about flip flops yesterday, and I think he should keep it up. Shrub won't be able to use that analogy when it comes to Kerry if he does, because it will just bring to mind all Shrub's changes and disasterous policies.

17. Rove Playing Us - Absolutely, but
what I don't understand why do we let them. For instance think about this,
1) Bush saying "results count" on his record of 4 years, how does he get away with this.
2) People focusing on if Kerry really deserved a medal when you have never gotten answers to Bush's military records.
3) More people in poverty, more children in poverty.
4) Middle class squeezed & look at the stocks for the high end stores going great guns while Wal-Mart, The Gap, other low end stores hurting because people don't have the money to spend because of higher fuel costs.
We could go on and on, yet, for some reason our message is not getting through out there. Someone is not doing their job. I know people vote on who they think is a religious man or a one issue, but, this is rediculous.

Gore blew it, he had just come off of 8 years of the best prosperity we had seen in decades & let this guy beat him. You can question the "if Bush won" but it should never have even been close enough that Florida or Nader were a factor.

We have to do better or the same results we will see again this year.

22. Style over substance?
Perception over reality. Dumbass appeals to anti-intellectuals, simpletons and the elite, greedy wealthy.

If it is true that style and perception is more important than issues then K. Kerry better dumb down his msg. In the debates he better not come off as too nuanced, wooden, intellectual or snooty because that was mainly Gore's downfall.

20. Their meme on the economy is that it is back and robust
and that we can thank Bush's steady leadership and tax cuts for it, according to some douchebag on CNN this morning.

They'll crow about their Medicare bill as a boon to seniors.

They'll say they added a million jobs in the last year and a half.

This is Alice in Wonderland time. Everything is upside down.

It is utterly beyond me how an administration that has been so obviously incompetent and evil, and caused so much damage to millions of people throughout the world, and yet is even in the polls. They should be in jail, not lying about their records and promoting empty promises in a bid to stay in control of the public trough.

21. Andy Kaufman, the late comedian, and Karl Rove have this in common:
their modus operandi is to play with our heads and our reality. It's the magician's sleight of hand.

Kaufman and Rove say stuff that leads you to believe in something when in truth it's something else. For example, if Kaufman made you think his beloved grandmother had a heart attack and died on stage in front of you, you're supposed to be shocked and mollified. The gag is this is a bit and the woman is an actress playing a part.

Manipulation. So, warning folks. If Rove says anything, if *, Cheney, or the Gang of Four say anything, it's a lie until proven to be truth.

28. Unfortunately, many people are susceptible to "head playing"
Rove and Co. have learned exceptionally well that short and sweet "talking points" work. "I'm a compassionate conservative" is such a major joke but it's said over and over and the sheeple will tell themselves that he is a good person because he's not a liberal (horrors) and he's compassionate. Kerry needs to be shorter and sweeter.....less "preachery".
