Some people think the right wing and the Republicans opposed Kosovo because they hated Clinton. That's only partially right.
Some Republicans opposed the intervention because they didn't like the idea of bombing a white European Christian nation to help Muslims (I honestly had a friend who believed this). The following article traces a
web of links (which you can follow) through the Serbian extremist nationalist lobby, which has found favor in American ties to religious right and racist neo-confederate groups. Its list of links include:
The U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee
Yossef Bodansky
The Serbian Unity Congress (SUC)
James George Jatras
Senator Larry Craig (R-ID)
The Rockford Institute and its journal, Chronicles
Serge Trifkovic (foreign policy editor of Chronicles)

DixieNet
Senator James Inhofe (R-OK)
Representative Helen Chenoweth (R-ID)

Note that one of Wesley Clark's most often cited critics is Lt. Col George
Jatras, along with his wife and his son. Well, the younger Mr. George Jatras happens to be a foreign affairs policy aide to Republican Senator Larry Craig. And, conveniently enough, Jatras' views fit right into the Republican Party. As reported by the
Washington Post, Jatras views
Islam as "
arising from the darkness of a heathen Araby" that has nothing to do with Abrahamic religions, speaks of the alleged worthlessness and vileness of the Qur'an, and warns of the ever present threat of Muslims and Islam as a "
Gigantic Christian-Killing Machine."
Criticizing Clark is completely fair game--it may not, however, be such a good idea to use the words of an avowed bigot to do so.
