H&I and free fire zones were military policy throughout the RVN. The point is that they are contrary to Geneva Principles. But I'm glad you corrected yourself re: Kerry's testimony before the Congress.

Now, the question is, do you agree that H&I and free fire zones are war crimes? If so, then you actually believe Kerry's contention that these standing policies and strategies were illegal under Nuremburg principles, and therefore believe Kerry's contention that the conduct of the war in Vietnam, from the policy level, was illegal. Is that your contention, because that is what you are saying here. Are you denying that H&I fire was condoned up and down the chain of command? Are you denying that H&I was an approved policy of USMACV? Because that would be contrary to obvious facts, and anyone with even a passing familiarity with the Vietnam War would laugh in your face. H&I was standing policy and explicit strategy, and you damn well know it - or you know nothing. (Outward Bound, your buddy, seems to be a big fan of facts - perhaps he would care to dispute this well-known fact?)

Here's the logic of Kerry's statement, since you seem not to understand logic:

Major Premise: US policy in Vietnam (esp. re: H&I and Free fire zone) was criminal (according to established rules of warfare, enshrined in the Geneva Conventions, as well as implicit rules of parity with Nuremburg principles).
Minor Premise: I followed US policy (esp. re: H&I and Free fire zone)in Vietnam.
Conclusion: Therefore, my actions (esp. re: H&I and Free fire zone) were criminal (according to established rules of warfare, enshrined in the Geneva Conventions, as well as implicit rules of parity with Nuremburg principles).

You cannot pretend to accept the conclusion based on the minor premise, without first accepting the major premise. So, in order to believe that Kerry's actions were criminal, you would have to agree that US policy was criminal. Do you agree with that? If not, then you NECESSARILY disagree with Kerry's conclusion that he committed illegal actions, which means that you disagree with your own claim that Kerry admitted to war crimes. So, which is it, smart guy? Do you believe Kerry admitted to war crimes (in which case you must agree that US policy was criminal), or do you think that Kerry's definition of war crimes is flawed (if you don't believe US policy was criminal), in which case you DON'T believe that Kerry admitted to war crimes. Feel free to take your time with an answer. I know thinking things through must be very difficult for you.
