This Corzine for Governor stuff is intriguing
He's a guy we need in the senate. But if he leaves to run in a special election for Gov. How would his Senate seat be filled? Is it possible for him to run for Governor while remaining a Senator? And if he wins appoint a Dem senator or if he losses just remain in his Senate seat?

Thanks

1. I don't know, but
I think the only reason he would leave the Senate to be Governor is that he is planning to run for President.

Hopefully they have a system to keep the Senate seat. Right now that is much more important than the Governorship.

Think Supreme Court.....Clarence Thomas, Scalia as Chief Justice.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....it is cold in here.

1) yes, he can run for Governor while keeping his seat.
2) He would resign from the senate prior to being sworn-in, then he could appoint his sucessor who would, I believe serve until election day 2005 when a special election would be held.

Current rumor is that Gov Corzine would appoint Rep Robert Menendez-which would be excellent for the Democratic party nationally.

If he loses the race for governor, he would remain in the senate until the next election when he could run for re-election.

Here's a lot more information
