How important is it to have enlightened discussion and stimulating thought
For me personally, it is a necessity of life - like food and water. I think this is why I enjoy visiting DU so often. :) The discussions can be very enlightening and educational. The thoughts can be very stimulating also.

There are many very bright people here but I believe the one ingredient that makes DU special has been their "honesty". Most do not hold back their thoughts in fear of offending some political correctness or political Party. The honesty, with themselves as well as others, permits the discussions to become enlightening. Perhaps I am biased because I have been here for so long, but those are my perceptions.

1. There are many times..........
I come across a thread that contains incredibly serious discussion by people who are more concerned about learning from others or truly interested in soliciting differing points of view without ego involvement or defensivness. Those threads are a joy to read and participate in.

I am continually amazed at the dpeth of knowledge and expertise found here on DU.

That's why I'm donating again.
