These books are marketed for their daring and shock value, not for their strong factual foundation.

Malkin needed a good debunking.

It is noted in the article that she uses "ethnic Japanese" to avoid writing "Japanese Americans", so that she can subtly drain them of sympathy when she is read by less careful readers. This is dishonest and underhanded.
