Any DUers along the path of the Fla. Hurricane?
If any body here near Orlando area, let us know what's going on. My daughter is there and I can't reach her by phone. I'm in AZ.

1. Orlando was in a bad hook of storms
Will experience hurricane force winds (72+mph) but nowhere near what they are getting on the coast. Phone communications are probably jammed or down but she's most likely hunkered down and just fine now. Just going on news reports. All good thoughts!

4. My daughter's in Orlando, too
she's working nightshift--I'm hoping she doesn't have to be out in the worst of the passing storm. We're in Brooksville, north of Tampa, and we've been getting ready for the storm for two days. Fortunately (for us, at least), Charley decided to turn in early and take us out of the direct path. Just overcast with mild rain bands passing through so far here.

5. Here is what I just heard.
Seems to be a lot of confusion.
According to one channel it is already onshore around the Cape Coral area. Then one station says it will exit around Cocoa Beach. Another says it will head straight toward Orlando. Yet another, just showed that it is going to head straight north up the state.

This will make a huge difference to us which way it goes, so have anyone really heard for sure? Each sounded pretty positive.

I have heard Orlando is in the path, then Cocoa Beach, but they are not really near each other. One pattern showed it heading upstate toward Polk County...

6. My mom's west of Orlando in Brooksville - 6 mi from the coast.
I just got off the phone and she says nothing is happening - not a drop of rain yet. In typical fashion, my parents' hurricane preparation began with a trip to the liquor store. I just sent her back to Florida yesterday so she could get there before it hit; her original reservation was for today.

7. Not me, but my Mom....................
tornadoes all around her in the Sebring, Avon Park area. She's hunkered down in a good, strong hurricane resistant house. The path of the storm is going to come very close to her, I'm more than a little concerned.
