Bush Mocks Kerry Over Views on Iraq War

Seeking to shore up his support in the military rich, GOP-leaning Florida panhandle, Bush assailed Kerry on the dominant issue of the campaign as the incumbent made his 24th trip to the swing state that narrowly ensured his election in 2000.

"Now, almost two years after he voted for the war in Iraq, and almost 220 days after switching positions to declare himself the anti-war candidate, my opponent has found a new nuance," Bush said. "After months of questioning my motives and even my credibility, Sen. Kerry now agrees with me."

Bush added sarcastically that Kerry still had time to change his position: "There are still 84 days left in the campaign."

1. Voted for the war in Iraq? There was only one vote, one to zip
Nobody voted for war in Iraq. It was bad enough to give the authority to an idiot incompetent liar like Bush, but for Bush to pretend that it was a mistake other than his own--not only is Bush unable to accept that he has made a mistake, he is pretending that others endorse it too. What a dope.

2. Then he picked him up by the knap of the neck and his feet barely ...
touched the floor and the smirk disappeared from his face, and his eyes bulged as he was gasping for a little bit of air. Then he sat him back down on he floor and slapped the holy shit out of him, as he staggered to keep from falling...."Why'd you do that!", he whined. "Because you are deserving", he said.

3. Good, then Bush won't mind debating Kerry on that entire issue, will he?
Let's see how certain he plays it then. Let's see if he can spin while facing Kerry.

4. Bush's critique is a lie.
Saying that he would've voted for the IWR again is not the same as agreeing with Bush's rush to war.

I was annoyed by Kerry's comment, but Bush is being a damn liar, as usual.

7. Kerry is leading Bush in Florida with
something like a 6 ot 7 point lead. Bush is on the defense and Kerry keeps adding more yards. Looks like a Florida touchdown for Kerry in November.

8. This is VERY surprising ...

Typically, the president himself doensn't utter the blatant lies. That job usually goes to surrogates. The president gets away with weasal words and quoting the liars.

But this time he made a VERY blatant and deliberate lie by saying John Kerry agrees with Bush.

It sounds like the Republicans are dropping the "weak on defense" theme after the Democrats emphasized a strong defense so prominently. They're falling back on lies about flip-flopping.

9. But will Mr. Bush revise his position that $87 billion was needed?
A Little Perspective

by Michael Moore

If you can't get through this list without wanting to throw up, I'll understand. But pass it around anyway. This is the nail in the Iraq War's coffin for any sane, thinking individual, regardless of their political stripe. (Thanks to Tom Paine.com and the Center for American Progress.)

To get some perspective, here are some real-life comparisons about what $87 billion means:

---$87 Billion is more than the combined total of all State budget deficits in the United States. The Bush administration proposed absolutely zero funds to help states deal with these deficits, despite the fact that their tax cuts drove down state revenues. .

---$87 Billion is enough to pay the 3.3 million people who have lost jobs under George W. Bush $26,363.00 each! The unemployment benefits extension passed by Congress at the beginning of this year provides zero benefits to workers who exhausted their regular, state unemployment benefits and cannot find work .

---$87 Billion is more than double the total amount the government spends on Homeland Security. The U.S. spends about $36 billion on homeland security. Yet, Sen. Warren Rudman (R- N.H.) wrote, America will fall approximately $98 .4 billion short of meeting critical emergency responder needs for homeland security without a funding increase. .

---$87 Billion is 87 times the amount the Federal Government spends on After School Programs. George W. Bush proposed a budget that reduces the $1 billion for after-school programs to $600 million cutting off about 475,000 children from the program. .

---$87 Billion is more that 10 times what the Government spends on all environmental Protection. The Bush administration requested just $7.6 billion for the entire Environmental Protection Agency. This included a 32 percent cut to water quality grants, a 6 percent reduction in enforcement staff, and a 50 percent cut to land acquisition and conservation. .

There you go. In black and white. A few million of you will receive this letter. Please share the above with at least a half-dozen people today and tomorrow. I, like you, do not want to see another approval rating over 50 percent.

Yours,
Michael Moore
Filmmaker
