Miracle drugs - the new anti inflamatories
You have heard of the claims regarding human growth hormone. You have heard endless commercials for all sorts of drugs followed by "ask your doctor...".

This is not a commercial or joke.

If you know someone with fibro neuralgia, arthritis, joint pain, tendonitis, burcitis or even the flu - listen up*

Since last November I have gradually lost all strength in my arms to extreme pain. First my right arm had pain in the elbow where all the tendons attach and then the left. The pain was constant even without any movement. Day and night for 10 months.

Last week I no longer had the ability to even bring a coffee cup up to mouth. I tried Bextra (valdecoxib 10 mg) 1-866-4BEXTRA .
Within 12 hours the pain was gone and within a week all the strength has return with only some residual tenderness.
I now swim, bike, refinish furniture and lift over 4000 lbs a day and can play the cello and violin again.

These new anti inflamation drugs have given me the most profound restorative experience.

*Inflamation is your own healing response that often actually causes more damage than the original trauma or infection (inclucing the flu).

I found this new anti inflamatory 'Bextra' a real miracle drug - I kid you not.

2. Wow! That is wonderful for you!
I'll keep it in mind. I wish it had been around for my Grandmother who had such a horrible time with Arthritis pain.

3. I keep saying the same thing about
my grandmother. The pain for her was so bad she cried all the time. That was in the 50s. I take Celebrex for mine and it truly is a miracle pill.

4. donhakman ... does it require a prescription?
My right arm, wrist, and hand is exactly what you describe. My left arm is starting to hurt too. Ditto coffee cup. I can't even pick up a ball for my dog with my right hand. I have to throw underhanded with my left arm.

5. also available in Mexico
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 09:55 AM by amazona
I don't know the price but my partner was given some samples at no charge in case of pain after a treatment he received in Mexico, since he couldn't cross back into U.S. with a "scheduled" painkiller. In the end, he didn't have pain issues, so never tried the valdecoxib, but I'm glad to hear it did wonders for you. Sometimes drugs are cheaper in Mexico so thought it worth a mention if anyone needs to check it out.

On edit -- not sure if his drugs are Bextra or a generic, the package just says 10 mg valdecoxib.

6. I've been on it for a couple weeks and haven't seen any improvement
actually.

My upper joint problems are from my neck and cervical arthritis and injury-related arthritis; and my lower joint arthritis issues due to injuries... and so far, no relief.

Perhaps I should give it more time. Luckily there are no side affects from bextra that I can see, so far!!!! I'm so glad it's working for you! Typically these types of medications work in less than 30% of the population, believe it or not...

10. Yeah the Vioxx did nothing for me
Edited on Thu Aug-05-04 01:15 PM by donhakman
but Bextra did so rapidly I am convinced it worked since it removes the condition that caused pain.

I had an idea 25 years ago that cloning mylineal nerve tissue cells and putting them back in the spinal fluid would repair and/or be a good treatment for MS. As for arthritis cloning synovial tissue cells and putting them in the joints might work also.

Then of course there is the stem cell route.

Rad, don't give up. You may be the breakthrough experimental case that shows the way for others.

As for my ideas, some of them actually worked. I was an early innovator of what eventually became the cochlear implant for the deaf to hear. I started with external tranducers and then it went to Litton Industries and elsewhere.

Getting people to ever listen to me was always the hardest part of trying something new.

7. I wonder if Celebrex is the same type drug
I have tried Celebrex in the past and it worked wonders....pain relieved and no side effects. Naproxin(sp) handled the pain, however, it did cause stomach problems. It's good to know advances are being made in pain control.

8. prescription
I was given 3 weeks of samples and a prescription.

It is not a pain control drug - just anti inflammatory.
Today I just tore apart an old 20 foot swingset gym and put it on the curb.

I had previously tried Vioxx with no effect.

My grandmother had 4 joint replacements. Without the inflammation the joints will not deteriorate nearly as much.
