PORTLANDERS: Jim Hightower at the Baghdad at 7 tonight!
Free!

Jim Hightower will be live at the Baghdad on Hawthorne at 7 p.m. Free tonight, Monday. Be there!

Also, please note that there will be a huge, huge book sale to benefit the Kerry campaign/Democratic Party on August 21 at the musicians' union building near 21st and Sandy Blvd. Donate all your unwanted books. Go and buy someone else's unwanted books! I'll post some more info when I get it.

4. just a followup note....
...to say that people were hanging from the rafters, nearly. The place was JAMMED. In the aisles, sitting on the floor, etc. Hightower hit all the right notes. My favorite line: "I'd rather trust a hungry coyote with my last lamb chop than trust Ashcroft with our liberties."

One brave person actually asked of Hightower whether he thought the Bushies might MIHOP to stop the election. There was a lot of gasping from the audience. Hightower says we're ready. He cited all the action on BBV. And he said that Kerry won't roll over. And he said that we the people will be in the streets. You'll be there, he said, and I'll be there.

Very uplifting! So thrilling to be in the same air space as all those Dems and progressives!

6. If
we can't have our votes counted at the polls, we certainly can have them counted elsewhere. Vote in the streets.
