Al Gore gets convention bounce in CNN/Gallup poll in 2000
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 06:22 AM by JI7
look at the numbers. Gore got a bounce, but that was because he didn't have as much support as Kerry had before the convention. Kerry already had much of the support that gore got in his bounce in 2000. Kerry was never far behind Bush as Gore was in 2000 around before the convention also.

<WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Al Gore has gained significant support as a result of the Democratic convention and is now statistically tied with George W. Bush among likely voters on the strength of an eight-point convention bounce, according to the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll.

Now Aug. 11-12

Gore 47% 39%

Bush 46 55

Nader 3 2

Buchanan 2 *>

1. Thanks
I was about to ask about this.

Looks like Gore needed the convention to get around where Kerry was before it.

Kerry surely got a bounce (albeit a small one), but he was already ahead of Bush in many polls.

I have little doubt that Kerry will win the popular vote (which doesn't matter anyways), unless some major event occurs (terrorist attack, Osama captured, etc).

2. That doesn't matter
Your rationalization just is not helping the situation. You either get a bump or you don't. Kerry got none and his campaign better figure out why. If they are not willing to make some changes we are going to lose.
