Barack Obama..................WOW
Edited on Thu Jul-29-04 10:28 AM by Bandit
I was expecting another humdrum local politician with huge aspirations. Man was I impressed. I was constantly reminded of MLK Jr. Not sure exactly why as nothing he said was a quote or anything but the intensity and the complete and solid belief that better days were ahead were just overpowering. Rising Star is a huge understatement IMHO. I think if nothing happens to him in the next eight years he may be our first black vice-president and dare I hope after that? It is no wonder that Republicans are afraid of this man.
On edit: after writing this I found a complete thread on him with more than two hundred replies. Boy do I feel dumb. Sorry for the dupe.

2. Pretty amazing, huh?
I think my favorite part was "We coach little league in the blue states and have gay friends in the red states."

4. yes, definitely...
every once in a great while i see or hear something that brings me up short, stops me in my tracks, brings a knot to my throat and gives me hope for the future of mankind, and makes me wonder what choices i need to make to be more like them.

Some of Ghandi's speeches do it. So do some of MLK's speeches. Obama's speach is now added to the list.

6. He spoke in his own words and thoughts..
I admire him for that. I cannot abide people who cannot go a second without flying on the coat tails of another's quote to bolster their sense of credibility. It is like the reader who memorizes endless quotes but has never progressed to the next level, digesting what he has read and assimilating the lessons learned into a new and improved vision of fresh and new ideas. Barak Obama has done just that!
He is his own man with his own view of how to make the world a better place. And he is dynamite!

7. all of the above, yet Limbaugh
called him "Osama" the day after his sizzling rhethoric. What a razor-sharp wit. No wonder the intellectually challenged love Rush. Can't follow what an intelligent man has to say? Just call him "Osama". Brilliant.
