What Republicans Believe
Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is a impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction is none of our business.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery.

You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

* Feel free to pass this on.

* If you don't send it to at least 10 other people, we're likely to be stuck with Bush for 4 more years.

3. Re-Write
This is my own personal rewrite. I think it would be really great if as many of us try rewriting this with as much information and as many added points as possible to make this a more robust and researched tool for the dissemination of truth.

**********************************************************************
Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him in the 80's, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him in the early 90's, a good guy when Cheney did business with him in the late 90's and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

Trade with Cuba is embargoed because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

A woman's personal decisions regarding her own body are to be limited, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Jesus loves you and shares your righteous hatred of homosexuals, non-Christians and members of "non-preferred denominations", foreigners, and minorities.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while sending them into harm's way and slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

If condoms and family planning education are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex. If we just tell them not to have sex, they won't. This way, teenage pregnancies will become a thing of the past.

Providing health care to all Iraqis by a no-bid government contract to an unregulated private corporation is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism. Medical attention is only entitled to those who can afford it.

HMOs, insurance companies, and other private corporations have the best interests of the public at heart. They will never hold the interests of their investors or shareholders above those of the consumer and can be trusted never to do so.

Global warming, tobacco's link to cancer, are junk science and can be disregarded as long as finer points are debatable, but the Judeo-Christian story of creation should be taught as an academic subject in schools.

The scientific theories known as "the big bang" and "evolution" are nonsense because they disagree with the literal interpretation of ancient texts agreed by many, but not all, to be sacred. However, other similarly supported scientific theories such as gravity, electromagnetism, and nuclear are ok.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is a impeachable offense. A president lying to his constituents, congress, and world leaders to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages, imposing a preferred religion on government, and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary losing money on cattle trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction, alcoholism, and DUI is none of our business.

Drug addiction is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host in which case it is an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery. Poverty is a moral failing always.

You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.
