Who was that guardsman Bushies put forward to say he served with Bush?
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 04:53 PM by blm
Anyone remember his name?

Since the WH now finally admits Bush didn't serve at that time, has any reporter tried to find out why they brought out this guardsman to say he worked with Bush? Who in the WH was in on that coverup?

Did anyone save links from that episode of the coverup?

1. Doonesbury is offering a 10,000.00 reward for anyone who can prove
they served with Bush in Alabama. If he's telling the truth. He can collect the money.

2. Here?
WP
A statement by retired Lt. Col. Albert C. Lloyd, also released today by the White House, says the documents show that Bush had a "satisfactory year for retirement/retention" in both 1972 and 1973 and "completed his military obligation in a satisfactory manner." Lloyd, who reviewed some records for the Bush during the 2000 campaign, served as a personnel officer for the Texas Air National Guard from 1969 to 1995.

6. Thanks, but this was another guy who came forward saying he served with W
but it was obviously impossible. I do recall that the dates he said he served with Bush were already dates that the WH said he was absent. We all knew he didn't have the story straight at the time, but where is the press follow up on this obvious attempt at coverup by the Bushies, especially now when the records show he wasn't there?

Are all attempts at covering up this story by the WH over the last four years going to get a pass from the press?

5. Actually.....
The guy who claimed to serve with him in Alabama was found to be a complete fraud when upon further inspection his dates in Alabama didn't even coincide with the time Bush was *supposed* to be there.

10. Former Guardsman: Bush served with me in Alabama
USAToday 13 Feb 2004

A retired Alabama Air National Guard officer said Friday that he remembers George Bush showing up for duty in Alabama in 1972, reading safety magazines and flight manuals in an office as he performed his weekend obligations.
"I saw him each drill period," retired Lt. Col. John "Bill" Calhoun said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press from Daytona Beach, Fla., where he is preparing to watch this weekend's big NASCAR race.

"He was very aggressive about doing his duty there. He never complained about it. ... He was very dedicated to what he was doing in the Guard. He showed up on time and he left at the end of the day."

Calhoun, whose name was supplied to the AP by a Republican close to Bush, is the first member of the 187th Tactical Reconnaissance Group to recall Bush distinctly at the Alabama base in the period of 1972-1973. He was the unit's flight safety officer.
