1. Nobody, apparently
Still, with 111 dead, this might make page A5 in tomorrow's papers, as opposed to the typical A14 treatment for Iraqi news.

3. I posted something similar yesterday...
Iraq out of the news = Bush poll #s rise?

When Iraq was “handed over” to the interim government, did our troubles in Iraq end? No, in fact July has been one of the bloodiest for US troops since Bush declared “Mission Accomplished”.

But, as far as the media is concerned, it’s all over but the shouting. I’d say you’d just about have to have a nuclear explosion in Iraq before the media would pay it one ounce of attention. Why? Because Bush’s plummet in the polls was directly tied to the constant stream of bad news from Iraq tied to the revelations that we were there in the first place due to his lies.

So the answer?

1.) End the occupation – at least on paper
2.) Keep Iraq out of the news as much as possible
3.) Prevent the troops from coming home and bringing the bad news with them

With our MTV attention span, I’d be surprised if Iraq remains much of a campaign issue this November. It’s good to control the news.

5. The death toll has risen every hour.
Had the Hairdos originally reported the devastation, they would have been obligated to give this tragedy the on-air minutes it deserves throughout the day.

We can't have that, can we?

6. I noticed...
I was just on one of my mini-rants to my spouse about it. And, oh, BTW, another U.S. soldier dead and three injured. Another flag-draped coffin for Bush to ignore and disabled veterans benefits for him to cut.

Glad the war--er, peace--is going so well. <sarcasm, of course>

Bush Must Go!!!

NPR, and CNN's "American Morning" did a bit on it. I haven't checked in with AAR yet.

8. I saw it yesterday. But Iraq war is over. They are liberated. Move on...
Iraq is not worth mentioning any more. And the press is cooperating fully.

Is it like an I-pod or something? I sure haven't heard of it on the teevee or anything.

10. That is Iraq's problem
They are a sovereign nation. Iran is the more pressing issue.
Sarcasm off.

11. The media is too busy showing Kerry in a photo-shopped bunny suit
and replaying Teresa's "shove it" comment. Besides didn't you get the memo? "LET FREEDOM REIGN." Iraq is "free". Those aren't bombs, they are firecrackers.

It is sickening, isn't it? And another story that no one is noting: Doctors without borders is pulling all of their people out of Afghanistan because of security problems.

12. Iraq has become a hell-hole.
It is a hell-hole of Bu$h's making. No way the cabal will pin this world-class tragedy on Clinton (although they'll probably - in their inimical dis-ingenuity - try).

13. Seems as though the deaths of Iraqis are of little
importance now in the media. It just makes me sick that we have created this nightmare and want to sweep it under the rug. Our media should be ashamed.

Another disturbing article on the same link includes British soldiers killing 6 prisoners. Disgusting beyond belief.

-snip-

He said they were hooded, kicked and punched and forced to crouch for hours during three days of detention.

"The soldiers appeared to be thoroughly enjoying themselves, as the beatings were accompanied by loud laughter," the statement said.

"Soldiers took turns in abusing us ... They would mention some English names of stars or (soccer) players and request us to remember them or we would be beaten," he said.

"One terrible game the soldiers played involved kickboxing. The soldiers would surround us and compete as to who could kickbox one of us the furthest," al-Mutari added. "The idea was to try and make us crash into the wall."

On the third day, he said, detainees were awoken after two hours sleep and a soldier "asked us to dance like Michael Jackson."

15. I am too scared to close my eyes.
http://www.bushflash.com/year.html WATCH THIS VIDEO only takes 3 minutes

Enveloped in a sentiment,
A sound that rushes over me.
Engage an impulse to pretend
I have a faith as pure.
Not forgetting what it means to dream.
Indulging everything.
Entertaining thoughts that I've the strength
Of those I yearn to be.
Cheers and tribute greet the saviours.
Reckless thoughts survive.
Anachronistic and impulsive.

And what will happen?
Will I dream?
I am too scared to close my eyes.
For a second please hold me.
None can change in me these things that I believe.
But I don't know what happens now.
I am too scared to close my eyes.

16. Iraqi's to realize their dream
What utter nonsense.

Look at Iraq in the 1920's under the British. A lot of freedom and democracy there, ha.

Look at Iran under the American supported Shah. What a "dream come true" that was for those people for 30 years.

Saudi Arabia, one of Bush's closest Friends and allies in the region. As a point of information, can some recite their bill of rights. Also, do a google search to see which candidate carried Riyadh in their last election. Some Freedom.

I don't know why these folks don't trust us? Maybe they don't watch Fox News enough.
