Stars and Stripes letter corrects the Clinton record
The writer of “Bush followed ground rules” (July 12) wrote these 10 troublesome words: “President Clinton sent us into Kosovo, Somalia, Haiti and Rwanda.”

The whole Somalia invasion was not perpetrated by Clinton. It was a going-away present from former President George Bush. A last “hurrah,” if you will.

Clinton inherited all of these military campaigns from the lackluster performance of those who came before him in the previous 12 years. Kosovo, Somalia, Haiti and Rwanda could have been nipped in the bud if Clinton’s predecessors would not have been so arrogant to the needs of the rest of the world. But I guess there isn’t any money in that.
