The Big Tent
Hopefully, you all watched the DNC on CSPAN as I did last night. Sorry, no repube vileness for me. I wanted to make my own conclusions, not have the event filtered through the baleen of someone like Bill Bennett or the ugliness of an Ann Coulter or Laura Ingram. The Big Dog was great as expected. Our duly elected President Al Gore was superb. The Noble Peace Prize winning President Carter is a National Treasure. The guy from Ohio was spot on. Really a great night!

The one thing that stood out was, the crowd. The mix of people, races, sex and ages, celebrating the unity of our party, it was a fantastic thing to behold. In contrast to the repube hate fest next month, a room full of white middle aged men desperate to make their boy-king look presidential.

Last night, ladies and gentleman I saw what our Democratic Party is about. It is about inclusion not exclusion, it is about everyone, regardless of age, sex, religion, or sexual orientation, not just the privileged few. We flaunt our diversity, not hide it in the closet. We embrace it, not push it away. We respect different opinions, not ask "who cares what you think?". Yes, we fight amongst ourselves, but we also forgive each other. We care about what happens to this planet, not just the bottom line on a spreadsheets. We bleed with the families of the 911, not stand on the site with a bullhorn, making a campaign speech. We cry when Taps is played, as we bury our war dead, not act like they doesn't exist.

This my friends is why we will win this election. This is why we are right, and they sadly, are wrong. This is why we will win.

Peace

Hobo

5. I noticed how diverse the crowd was.
I kept mentioning it last night. What a contrast from the repug party who will do anything they can to keep "certain" groups of people out of their party.
