What is Chris Matthew's obsession with drunks and alcoholism?
If I hear him ask another Kerry supporter one more time if John Kerry is someone who's fun to "have a beer with" I think I'll puke. We already have a President who's been a drunk. See how he fucked us?

Chris has the red, bulbous face of an alcoholic - why's he so obsessed at finding a drinking buddy to get shitfaced with? So he won't look like an idiot when he's face down on his tubby red belly vomiting in an alley?

Grow up Chris - there's more to life than being an out of control drunk, even if you don't seem to be smart enough to know that.

7. Get Him To An AA Meeting

I listened to him talk to Teresa H. Kerry asking,"Is JK the kind of person that you would like to have a beer with?" She was smooth with her answer telling him something like," John doesn't like to drink much. Sometimes I'll have 2 glasses of wine at dinner, John may have one."

Then she started talking about how he likes sports. She painted him as more wholesome then a beer drinker. Maybe that's why Tweety likes Chimp. They should have beer and pretzels together.

Tweety is a fool!

12. Just another indicator of his rather less than deep thinking abilities
you know the type... hear's a statement that "makes sense" to him/her - thinks it is deeply profound... there for whenever they can (and in this case for YEARS) asks the question to every audience in the belief that it makes him look DEEP and PROFOUND - because to his mind it is a deep and profound question.

Sort of the opposite dynamic of Jerry Springer - who is a deep guy - but found rewards by putting on shows of superficial silliness/inanety and due to the rewards keeps doing so in a way that masks his depth. Problem for Tweety is - it isn't a deep or profound question/insight and he looks silly for repeating it all over the place, and thus it does the opposite of what it intends - it makes him look sorta superficially silly and inane.

13. I blogged Matthews on this.
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 07:09 PM by 2004 Victory
I asked Matthews how many past presidents were guys to go have a beer with.

Certainly LBJ was a drinker, but he hit the hard stuff and would hardly have been shooting the shit in a bar.

How about Dick Nixon, now that would have been a fun evening. He drank and babbled at the White House portraits.

Jimmy Carter? Brother Billy, yeah, but Jimmy? I don't think so.

And George W. is an alcoholic. How many beers has Chris had with him?

General Eisenhower? Hanging out in a bar having a beer with Ike? Nah.

How about FDR .. do you suppose he spent a lot of time at the corner bar swigging brews?

I'm sure Jack Kennedy enjoyed a drink, but he wasn't a guy that exactly mixed with the common man to get it. Probably the sleaziest place he ever drank was when he was hanging with Frank and the Pack in Vegas.

And Reagan? Far from the conventional wisdom we have crammed down our throats about Reagan, he didn't hang out with anybody but Nancy. I don't think they were beer drinkers.

Jerry Ford? Nah, he'd spill his beer all over your pants.

Daddy Bush? Posh cocktail party guy all the way. (You don't really think he ate pork rinds, do you?)

So this "have a beer" thing regarding John Kerry is so bogus and invalid. I think Teresa really set him straight on that. She's the bomb.

Hey, did anyone hear Franken rip Matthews up on the "left-wing radio" question? It was beautiful!!!

27. Only have to disagree on Ike-- my guess is he'd have been an interesting
guy to have a drink or two with- I can hardly imagine any one coming through his long military career and especially WWII as the General of all US forces, without having learned to hobknob with a mix of folks over a beer or boubon. Plus, the guy was smart. I for one, would have enjoyed that. Nixon, though--whew. you know Nixon was a MEAN drunk. And in a slightly similar way to Ike, I'd guess Kerry would be an interesting evening over a beer or two. Of course there is little I like more than to get into a deep political, philosophical, or deeply intellectual debate over a few drinks.... Perhaps that makes me equally undesirable to the average American, in terms of a "boozing buddy."

Since I haven't had any desire to get absolutely "shit-faced, wake up the next morning face-down in the kitty litter box" drunk in many years, I don't have a need to booze it up with a GWB* fratrat type....(beyond the fact that he so repulses me that I'd be gagging before the first drink....)

16. Tweety political agenda?
At one time he was in the Peace Corps and the Dem Pary and he lost his way. It seems that he is not a Neocon fan and was against the Iraq invasion from the start. He doesn't seem to be in favor of GW either. He loves the Gropenator. Maybe he is Paleo-Conserv. and Socialy Liberal?

17. Act like reporters? How about..."Oops, we invaded the wrong country?"
Or bad actors?
as Katie Couric jokingly put it-

of course, Katie and Matt habitually make jokes at someone else's expense- Conveniently forgetting the inconsequential lives of thousands of dead Iraqi civilians, and many thousands of our US soldiers maimed for life; and above all don't forget the death count rising almost 1000 dead US soldiers..paying for Katie's and Matt's morning levity.

These hoaky gasbags sicken me. They are no more than water carriers for the Bush agenda with their greedy hands out looking for their reward for whoring for the people who pay their salarys..and don't forget Katie's 'niche of shame' archived forever in the Anchor's Hall of Fame.

18. In the 2000 election, that was the refuge the media made for *
They more or less aknowledged that he was as dumb as a post, and about as well spoken, so they started in with the.."He's the kind of guy you'd like to hang out with, and have a few beers with".. :eyes:

22. The most bizarre question
he asked Teresa was about Kerry going to a bar and talking about girls...

I like Teresa's response, "I hope at this age he's not going to bars and talking about girls".

A happily married man around 60 years old talking about girls? Chris insisted that's what men do.

Anyone noticed during those Hardball college tours when Dean mentioned he likes "A Beautiful Mind", he asked him if he likes Jennifer Conoly?

What's with Chris asking these happily married middle aged men about fantasies with younger women? Does he think that because Clinton cheated on his wife that all democrats do that?

And what's with his "Bush is so manly" thing.

Tweety has some sexual identity issues to work out. I think he should get some therapy.

an obnoxious, hard-drinking boor with women himself. Read David Brock's Repuke Noise Machine.

BTW during his interview with Teresa, he seemed transfixed by her. Would that she could weave magic on all chatting blowhards.
