and we DO speculate that Bush knew he was lying when he gave the rationale for going to war in Iraq. As long as he has plausible deniability, he can use the "intelligence" as a cop out. Without being able to prove that Bush the incurious knew the intelligence was shady, a Democratic senate candidate can't go on a rant on live on CNN about what a liar the president is without sabatoging himself. After all he's a Democrat. If he were a Republican running for office, he could call a Democratic president a liar all day on CNN and they would have his back and cut him every bit of slack possible. Notice the same question was put to him by Russert on Meet the Press, "You calling the President a liar?". You know that question was emailed to the talk shows by the RNC to try and bait Obama into a media driven gaffe that they could use to take some of the shine off the rising democratic star. Either he calls the President a liar and alienates the moderates, independents and shaky Republicans that Kerry will need to win and have himself branded as "left-wing conspiracy fringe", or he says what he said and pisses off his progressive supporters by not calling Bush out as we see him. It was set up that way and Obama threaded the needle without flat out calling Bush a liar but calling the intelligence "fudged".

4. Saddam will give his WMD to terrorist

5. Saddam has a connection to 911/al Qaeda

6. alluminum tubes (in the NIE but with MANY dissenters)

7. Yellowcake from Niger (many dissenter but Bush spoke like it was fact)

If the above was nowehere to be found in any pre-war intelligence report why was Bush saying it unless he meant to lie to us to get his war? It is no speculation that Bush was lying. Of course he was.
