I LOVE BARACK OBAMA... he stood Wolf on his head: Wolf was
implying that the blacks that are successful in the USA (because Barack was the editor of Harvard Law Review and this provided him with an opening of citing a study) come from Africa or are first generation Americans..."and what do you think of this study?" OBAMA said: I have seen the study but I think the explanation is that the first generation or immigrants from Africa are PRE-SELECTED from the those who have the opportunity or wherewithal to be able to rise above the rest. African Americans have enormous capabilities that have not been tapped because of their circumstances in the USA!!!!
GREAT ANSWER

2. question
in what context did Wolf raise this question per the study? Seems sorta outa right field without the context (eg is he reporting from the Urban League meeting and if so was this report being discussed in that context? or was it just a contextless question ?)

5. The only context was Obama's performance at Harvard and in general.
The implication is that he is doing it because he is not 100% African American... because his father was not American.

8. Then the whole thing was as patronizing, and perhaps an attempted setup
as it sounded without the context.

Wolf - trying to get Obama into a "Bill Cosby" moment/statement?

Wolf - trying to find a way to explain to his constituency how a Black man could be so accomplished and likely to earn his way via votes into the senate?

Wolf - doing the patronizing thing of asking Obama about a "study" not because it is relevant to the current political discourse, or to the particular senate race (or is Wolf asking this to ALL senate candidates?), only because of Obama's race?

Or perhaps... all of the above??

4. He was very good at that... he said the intelligence had been slanted
He didn't say who slanted it. You have to be careful at this point. He has to get to the Senate. I understand this perfectly.

but my next door neighbor lost their son in this illegal war and so I do get a little emotional when it comes to Dems not speaking up for the truth.

By the way, I am not young....well, maybe I am young at heart :-)

11. we can only...
and we DO speculate that Bush knew he was lying when he gave the rationale for going to war in Iraq. As long as he has plausible deniability, he can use the "intelligence" as a cop out. Without being able to prove that Bush the incurious knew the intelligence was shady, a Democratic senate candidate can't go on a rant on live on CNN about what a liar the president is without sabatoging himself. After all he's a Democrat. If he were a Republican running for office, he could call a Democratic president a liar all day on CNN and they would have his back and cut him every bit of slack possible. Notice the same question was put to him by Russert on Meet the Press, "You calling the President a liar?". You know that question was emailed to the talk shows by the RNC to try and bait Obama into a media driven gaffe that they could use to take some of the shine off the rising democratic star. Either he calls the President a liar and alienates the moderates, independents and shaky Republicans that Kerry will need to win and have himself branded as "left-wing conspiracy fringe", or he says what he said and pisses off his progressive supporters by not calling Bush out as we see him. It was set up that way and Obama threaded the needle without flat out calling Bush a liar but calling the intelligence "fudged".

The following are statements from Bush and his thugs that were not in any intelligence report before the war nor was any intelligence officer saying the folowing:

1. massive stockpile of Biological weapons

2. unmanned aerial vehicles that could carry weapons to the USA

3. Nuclear wepaons program reconstituted and could have a nuclear very soon

4. Saddam will give his WMD to terrorist

5. Saddam has a connection to 911/al Qaeda

6. alluminum tubes (in the NIE but with MANY dissenters)

7. Yellowcake from Niger (many dissenter but Bush spoke like it was fact)

If the above was nowehere to be found in any pre-war intelligence report why was Bush saying it unless he meant to lie to us to get his war? It is no speculation that Bush was lying. Of course he was.

14. Have you agreed with Kerry or Edwards' every statement?
I am amazed at how quick everyone is to jump ship on a smart man with impeccable credentials as a liberal simply because he didn't go on the offensive...

We (collectively) run a horrible risk of being left with NO candidates to support if we demand 100% agreement with them 100% of the time.

Obama is the Dem choice in Illinois for our Senate seat, and as a result its him or else some GOP to be named later. I know which one I'd rather have.
