Bush: "gagging on the donkey but not yet ready to swallow the elephant."
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 10:36 AM by RatTerrier
Off-color line Bush threw out while addressing the Urban League on Friday.

Referenced by Wonkette:

Here is the speech:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/07/20040723-8.html

Do you remember a guy named Charlie Gaines? Somebody gave me a quote he said, which I think kind of describes the environment we're in today. I think he's a friend of Jesse's. He said, "Blacks are gagging on the donkey but not yet ready to swallow the elephant." (Laughter and applause.)

I say there is no way in hell he can win this election.

1. Why do the media give him a free pass?
Imagine if Clinton had said the same thing.

Perhaps e-mails to your favorite MW are in order. Or maybe the FCC, if any stations broadcast this filth.

2. Clinton would never say something like that.
I can't imagine this audience applauding that statement. :wow:

4. Clinton had too much class
Bush is an absolute, out-of-touch moron.

No wonder he was afraid to speak to the NAACP.

6. YES!!!
I said, "That's code!!"

I was told I'm being too sensitive, but I swear that is code to rightwingers.

10. Jimmy Kimmel mocked that line on Friday night's show
Every Friday, Kimmel does a bit called "This Week in Unnecessary Censorship." They take clips from TV and bleep words or fuzz portions of the video to make the original clips seem dirty. This past Friday, he showed the Bush clip, but with two BLEEPS edited in:

"Blacks are gagging on the d--BLEEP but not yet ready to swallow the BLEEP."

Bush giggled idiotically for several seconds after delivering his profound statement. What a moron.

11. You would have thought the audience was outraged
It was almost as if that was an audience full of Clarence Thomas fans.

And that moron didn't address Jesse Jackson nor Al Sharpton except by first names....and he is supposed to be a man of G-d?
