A new idea for DU. Let's collectively write the "9/11 OMISSION Report"
It could be a pinned thread, then we should make a Web page that all can read for the election!

People can then also cut and paste and email the media and write LTTEs.

Lot of ammo here -- Richard Clarke's NYT op-ed piece today, Sibel Edmonds, all the things Ruppert and others have dug up, all the things we here at DU know.

Otherwise we're depending on Ruppert and others to do something effective. The trillion-dollar court case against the Saudis by the families will be way after the election.

Our long article would just be a to-the-point overview of the whitewash.

And we would call it the "9/11 Omission Report"! I think the Omission Report will get at least to Randi Rhodes, who would then direct people to DU!

Whaddya say, folks?

1. Good Idea.........

Don't forget the Hart/Rudman report, Karen Kwaitowski, Seymour Hersh's Stovepipe article, the OSP, PNAC, etc.

www.911omissionreport.com sounds good.

I don't know who would do the website, I could do it if someone provides the funding. I can also provide some good articles to post on the website.

Let me know if you guys get it going.

In Rumsfeld's Shop

A senior Air Force officer watches as the neocons consolidate their Pentagon coup.

By Karen Kwiatkowski

Part 1 : In Rumsfeld's Shop Part 2 : Conscientious Objector Part 3 : Open Door Policy

Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski recently retired from the U.S. Air Force. Her final posting was as an analyst at the Pentagon. Below is the first of three installments describing her experience there. They provide a unique view of the Department of Defense during a period of intense ideological upheaval, as the United States prepared to launchfor the first time in its historya "preventive" war.

7. web sites are free/cheap
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 10:35 AM by Keirsey
You can get free websites at GeoCities, Bravenet, and more. They, will, of course, have intrusive ads. Otherwise you can get an ad-free website for about $5 a month.

Suggestion: If you plan to refer to an online article that might disappear, e.g., Yahoo news, you might consider making a screen cap of the article to save it for posterity.

Edit: Organizing your information

DU might consider creating a new topic area for this project. Threads would be dedicated to specific issues where members could update with new/newly-found information.

8. Time is Not Cheap..........

Web sites are cheap, but sites on Geocities etc. are a joke and get no respect. You have to do it right, you need to get a real web host with a real domain name.

I know a bannerless pop up free web host that is free up to 1GB a month. After the 1GB you have to pay for extra bandwidth.

What I would charge for if I did the site is my time, it's a lot of work to make a web site and then keep it updated. You will probably have a hard time trying to find someone to do the web site for free.

I know someone who might provide the funding, I just sent him an e-mail asking him to look at this thread. I will let you guys know if he says yes. If he does, I will do the web site.

10. Info........

The web host I know of is called:

www.doteasy.com

If you buy the domain name through them it's $25 a year, but you get free bannerless web hosting, and no pop ups either. If you pay for 2 years or more you also get a discount. I think we should start with a year and see if the site takes off.

They also have an ultra hosting plan that has 1000mb of storage and 20GB of bandwidth a month. It's $7.95 a month, but you have to buy it for 12 months at a time.

I think the best thing to do is get the free plan, then upgrade later if you need to. Why spend money if you don't need to, if the site starts using more than 1GB of bandwidth a month you can just buy more bandwidth or upgrade to the ultra hosting plan. Bandwidth is pretty cheap, you can upgrade to 5GB a month for $9 a month.

If the site ever needs more than 1GB a month it would be best to just upgrade to the ultra hosting plan for $7.95 a month. Of course that is just my opinion, and I will not do the web site for free. And I don't see anyone offering to do it for free.

13. I Agree........

We need to stay away from wild conspiracy stuff like a plane never hit the pentagon, and Bush let 9-11 happen on purpose etc. We could say he did nothing to stop it and he ignored terrorism until 9-11. But it's crazy to think he let 9-11 happen on purpose.

I am surprised more people are not interested in this, it seems like more people would want to do it.

This thread is not staying kicked up very well. We need more people to reply with info or just kick it up.

Hey Dems will win, I sent you a pm, did you get it ?

What has already been done ?

The web site you listed is about to fold up:

QUOTE: The financial situation continues to be dire. Since the June 13 updatemore than two weeks agowe have received no more than $650 in donations (one $250 donation + a few small ones). We cannot continue to provide this service without funds. We just can't afford to, plain and simple.

We plan to do a site called www.911omissionreport.com

So save your time and effort trying to stop us.

Be careful of Sibel Edmonds though - she seems to have wrote about the Report without reading it first - she has an article on anti-war.com that states the Report is redacted, which it's not.

it's a long read and just came out. i read what sibel wrote; she looked for her testimony and it wasn't there. so she wrote that she was "puzzled". i don't think that undermines her credibility.

20. I Bet..........

I bet the repukes refused to sign on to the report unless a lot of this stuff was removed from the report. I don't remember a word about the Hart/Rudman report being discussed in the report or at the press conference.

I bet they also refused to sign it if it blamed Bush for not stopping the attacks.

That is the stuff we should focus on, not the conspiracy stuff that make you look nuts. As I told Dems will win, we could report some of that stuff, but just list the link and the article, do not add any editorial comments to it.

I am stunned they did not mention the Hart/Rudman report. We should cover that pretty good, it makes Bush look bad because it did not come out until 1-20-01. Then they ignored it, and the Bush terrorism team never even had a meeting.

24. She said "very little, almost none" of the info was redacted,
classified, etc. Actually, that was the point--how could it be complete and accurate w/o the kind of info she possesses?

And if your point is that NOTHING was redacted, that is untrue. The names of sources in the 8/6 PDB were redacted (there may be other examples).

Disregarding Sibel Edmonds in a "9/11 Omissions Report" is ridiculous, IMO.

21. Good idea...
We should start with a synopsis of the "Caveman did it and the boosh people didn't do anything to stop them theory".

Take the lines we know are false and provide - line by line - the facts proving the falsehoods. That's a start.

Later, we can add individual's pages detailing different theories.

If you start out discounting other theories from the website, you start out losing a lot of learned researchers and that will lead to failure.

As much as possible, let's use the same format as the commission's site. It is public property and therefore not illegal to copy. Will save a ton of work and will end up looking like the official site.

Let's do it. $100 bucks gets it going and most of the text and links can be run through DU's 9/11 forum.

Just let it be known that the focus of the new site will be a line by line counter of the 9/11 report and will grow as researchers see fit. I think the 9/11 forum regulars will join in and make it work.

Whatever happened to the WTC HARD-DRIVE recoveries?

Moments before the World Trade Towers collapsed, $100 million in credit card transactions were sent through the computers inside the doomed buildings, transactions that should have vanished when the buildings collapsed. But a German company was able to recover data from the hard drives pointing to WHO, armed with advance knowledge, executed this monstrous fraud. But the company doing the data recovery was bought out, the project halted, while the FBI as usual does not look where it is told not to look.

No mention of Scott Ritter or any Democrats in Congress who did not believe the intelligence.

The 911 Commission Report is Full of Holes

1. Clinton '98 memo: Bin Laden Preparing to Hijack US Aircraft and Other Attacks (145)
- 2. Aug 6th memo: Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US (278)
- 3. Bush (mp3), Condi Rice (mp3) and General Myers all 'thought it was a terrible accident'- and went about their day. How is this possible after receiving the Aug 6th memo?
- 4. Official Excuse: Failure of Imagination... ummm, both of those memos were pretty damn specific, and when the hit came, THEY DID NOTHING! How could Condi, the National Security Advisor, go on to her staff meeting? How could bush continue with his school photo-op... his presence was endangering the children as obviously he could've been a target.
- 5. Bush appointed Zelikow to 'direct' the commission. Clinton did not appoint Starr. Zelikow's Directions: 10 min time limit, none of the pertinent Qs from 911 family members get asked. 911 Family Steering Committee calls for Zelikow's resignation, media ignores it.
- 6. 8:19 am 9/11 Morning: Flight Attendant Betty Ong calls reservation center, American Airlines knows flight 11 is hijacked. (22)
- 7. 8:24 am: Hijacker flips wrong switch, thinks he's talking to passengers but is actually transmitting to FAA controllers: "Nobody move. Everything will be okay. If you try to make any moves, you ll endanger yourself and the airplane. Just stay quiet." (23)
- 8. In the same transmission, the hijacker also said, "we have some planes" - but supposedly the controllers couldn't hear it, so they sent it off to someone else to decipher it.(40) Thirty minutes later, about the time of the 2nd plane crash- the audio was finally deciphered and they knew it was 'we have planes'.

SEC SECRET PROBE OF STOCK DEALINGS BEFORE 9/11

Between August 26 and September 11, 2001, a group of speculators, identified by the American Securities and Exchange Commission as Israeli citizens, sold short a list of 38 stocks that could reasonably be expected to fall in value as a result of the pending attacks. These speculators operated out of the Toronto, Canada and Frankfurt, Germany, stock exchanges and their profits were specifically stated to be in the millions of dollars.

September 12, 2001

The World Trade Center was destroyed just days after a heightened security alert was lifted at the landmark 110-story towers, security personnel said yesterday.

Daria Coard, 37, a guard at Tower One, said the security detail had been working 12-hour shifts for the past two weeks because of numerous phone threats. But on Thursday, bomb-sniffing dogs were abruptly removed.

It "faltered" because in June 2001, 3 months before 9-11, the rules of engagement for intercepting hijacked aircraft were changed so that regional air defense commanders could no longer order intercepts on their own authority, but had to wait for the Secretary of Defense to authorize the intercepts. for making a point i wanted to make: we should discount nothing. i thought about this a lot last night after posting yesterday that i agreed we should disregard some of the wilder stuff.

If we begin with eliminating premises or theories, we'll be no better than the official commission. everything should be on the table for review.

25. Sounds like a good idea
I had a freeper friend come over yesterday toting a copy of the commission report. I told him it was a waste of time to read it and compared it to the Warren Commission. Now, I need to back up my statements. I did tell him and his girlfriend that Sibel Edmunds was my new heroine.

The truth will not be out on Kennedy for probably another 40 years if at all. The truth of 911 will probably not come out either, but many will have the knowledge that the b*sh regime did nothing to help this country.
