Carl Cameron says OUTFOXED is lying about his wife campaigning for Bush.
If you've seen the movie, you probably remember the scene where Carl Cameron, the chief political correspondent for Fox News Channel, is shown before an interview, gushing about how much his wife enjoys campaigning for Bush, to Bush. It was caught during a feed before the interview actually began. Here's a bit of it:

Bush: Things are good. Your family?

Cameron: Very good. My wife has been hanging out with your sister.

Bush: Yeah, good.

Cameron: Shes been all over the state campaigning, and Pauline has been constantly with her.

Bush: Yeah, Doro is a good person.

Cameron: Oh, and shes terrific. When she first started campaigning for you, she was a little bit nervous, but now shes up there

Bush: Getting her stride?

Cameron: She doesnt need notes, shes going to crowds and shes got the whole riff down.

Bush: Shes a good soul.

But now in this article:
http://www.observer.com/pages/nytv.asp

He's saying it was a big misunderstanding:

<snip>
Mr. Cameron told Washington Post media columnist Howard Kurtz last week that Ms. Cameron had not, in fact, campaigned for Mr. Bush in 2000. "The whole thing is, in retrospect, an embarrassment that I feel really bad about," said Mr. Cameron after looking at a transcript of the conversation. He said that trick editing by Mr. Greenwald made it look as though he said that his wife had campaigned alongside Ms. Bush.

Actually, he said, his wife had simply shown interest in campaigning, but never did.

"That did not happen, nor did I say that," he said. "What I described was Doro campaigning all over the state and Pauline, having seen Doro at one community event, being interested at going out and helping, and maybe campaigning with Doro. But I never said that, nor did Pauline ever campaign all over the state with Doro. It was an unfortunate piece of editing in the movie that gave a far worse impression than the reality."

This may seem Wag the Dogish to you, but how the statement "Shes been all over the state campaigning and Pauline has been constantly with her" was edited into something other than what Mr. Cameron meant is difficult to imagine.

<snip>

So Carl and Bush just dreamed up the whole conversation. It never happened!

Even when these guys are caught on tape, they deny it. Unbelievable.

Yeah, right, they created a CG version of YOU and hired an impersonator to fake your voice.

5. "shes got the whole riff down" Yeah, we know what that means too
I deprogrammed Faux (after I almost threw one TV set into another) so I don't even know who this joker is. I've seen enough of these dopey faced liars to know that the station is nothing more than a hoax. I mean Faux News really says it all - it is just a political action station with news mixed in, like Air America Radio, except they have that compulsive thing going where they are convinced that their way is the only right way. They are indeed vicious and insane and I will never ever allow those faux photons to hit my eyes.

7. passing right by what always pisses me off
My letter to Hagan:

"Does Andrea Mitchell bring up the nice dinner parties she and Alan Greenspan attended during the setups for her interviews? If she does, thats Washington."

Which is why Washington is full of shit. Attending a dinner party with the people you cover should be grounds for removal from the beat, if not dismissal.

The reporters job is to find what people are doing wrong and publish it, spending a lot more time talking with the help and a lot less time partying with the hosts.

8. Even if what cameron says is true-
there's still a blatant conflict of interest, since this gut is in fact the chief political correspondent." He has no business covering the campaing, period- which I think is the whole point here.
