Worm turning at CNN?
I just watched 1/2 hour of American Morning and it was 90% * criticism and bashing. The "pop politics" segment had 2 Kerry/DNC supporters (well one official and an 'independent') and a Right wing wacko that had to mention "Kerry and Terrorists", also "Kerry and French." They read emails from people who poked * for his military spending and mis-adventures. They also stabbed at * on this Berger business.

Has CNN woken up? Has CNN become embarrassed at its own pandering to the GOP? Has CNN decided to chip in with the liberals this year? Has CNN just seen polls and is pandering to them for ratings? Is this just a once a month occurrence so they seem to be ethical journalists?

Questions abound!

4. Maybe.....
... they are worried about getting OutFoxed?

You have to admit, there seems to be a critical mass of criticism developing towards the "news" media. People are waking up and Fox is handling the whole issue stupidly, as they always do.

Maybe CNN is looking at the tea leaves and deciding not to get in the sights of the critics and reformers. Just a possibility, hey I can hope.

5. I have to wonder if between Outfoxed and F911 they aren't getting
as well as the rise of "media watchdog" websites like media matters is not getting them a wee bit concerned... The public is beginning to wake up to the media's crap.

But, I have to agree that it is too early to assume any meaningful change, especially from CNN...

6. motive:: a tight horse race is good for ratings
they will show their true colors in the last 2 weeks (after people think they are trusted) when it really counts like they did in the CA governor's race.

7. Could they be embarrassed that the "Daily Show" is
considered the best news shw on TV? A Comedy show is the best place to get your news. CNN is the joke, I guess.

11. Yep, Daily Show rebroadcast Stewart ripping Blitzer a new one last night
Wolf smiled and ate Jon Stewart's shit for the best five minutes of TV I've ever seen (Hill Street Blue excepted).

13. Leslie Blitzer had to stuff his intestines back in his abdomen
after Jon finished ripping him.

I was cheering so loud I thought the neighbors would call the police.

10. I don't think so...

But with the message of things like OutFoxed being circulated, it serves their business interests at least to put on the face of a counter to that kind of blind submission to the GOP party line. It's all about money, power, and influence.

The problem with big media generally, and CNN specifically, is that inasmuch as they do attempt to follow a standard of journalistic integrity, they interpret this in a very narrow, and misleading, way. "Balanced" coverage is a euphemism for presenting two polarized sides of an argument as though they both carry equal weight, even if one is known to be an outright lie. There is no searh for truth, merely an attempt to ward off the appearance of partisanship by allowing opposite viewpoints to be expressed. So, they'll give Kerry his moments, but in the next breath, they'll present the BushCo talking points with equal vigor. Specific bias is harder to spot and harder still to prove using this model of jouranlistic standards.

The interview this morning with David Gergen is a good example. They gave him ample time to make his point that the Berger flap, as he called it, was much ado about nothing and would fade away as merely a foonote in history once the election season was over. But at the same time, the interviewer asked ridiculous questions that utterly failed to consider the points Gergen had just made. His facial expression showed his disgust with this tactic, but he stuck to his guns and didn't fall for it, to his credit.

15. I don't care if the worm IS turning.
It's too late for the wannabe Faux News network. They have participated in furthering the chimps agenda. 3 3/4 damn years of cheerleading for the cabal. I have NO respect for that network anymore. They use to take the high road until Faux news started winning in the ratings war. They are complicit in the destruction of our country.

I adore Christiane Amanpour....CNN Foreign Correspondent. SHE spoke out against being embedded under the Pentagon's terms. SHE is a REAL journalist. The rest at CNN are WH shills. They are no different than Faux News.
