Repubs vs. Veterans (something I wrote up)
My good ol' mom was argueing with the neighbors over
republican's backstabbing veterans. These wannabe
repubs just don't want to hear it so she asked me
to go dig up some facts and find something she could
send to them. Well, it didn't take me too long to
find something to write about. All I did was go
straight to the DAV website and see what they are
concerned about. They posted the voting results
from the Daschle ammendment that was voted down
by the republicans. This ammendment according to the
DAV would "create a reserve fund to allow for an increase
in Veterans' medical care by $2.7 billion and lower the national
debt by reducing the President's tax breaks for taxpayers with
incomes in excess of $1 million a year."

Anyway, here is what I wrote up for her to send:

Republicans vs. Veterans

For anybody who actually wants to know the truth about the Bush administration
and Republicans concerning their total betrayal of American veterans all you have
to do is look at how they vote. An effort was made recently to ensure funding
for veteran healthcare, which is going to need support given the thousands of
maimed soldiers we have coming back from Iraq and Afganistan. This effort was
in the form of an amendment to the Defense Approprations bill that is making
it's way through congress. If you want to know the truth about Republicans just
look at how they voted in the Senate:

The vote on funding for veterans health care:

It failed 44-53

Of those who voted against the veteran healthcare funding
all but three were Republican. Yep, 50 republicans voted
against funding for veteran healthcare.

Only 1 single republican voted for supporting veterans
and you know who that was? Why, John McCain the
veteran of course.

Of the 44 Senators who voted for the passage of veteran
healthcare funding every single one of them were Democrats
except John McCain.

So if the arguement in this election is gonna be about who
actually supports our boys in the field don't be fooled by
the people who are so desperately trying to equate partisan
support for bush with supporting the troops. Bush and Cheney
are getting filthy rich off this war with several billions of our
tax dollars being funneled into Halliburton's off-shore bank
accounts but yet these republicans don't even have the
decency to take care of our soldiers who are dying and
being wounded every day.

Again, only 1 republican voted to support our soldiers
while all 50 other republicans voted against them.

Yep, these chickenhawks love war as long as you
don't ask them to make any contribution to the effort.
